Exciting start to the window, some real intent here. Focusing on positions that really matter, Philogene is someone I would have really liked if he’d have joined last summer.
I don’t know that either of the first two in their own right can make the whole difference in a short time (fingers crossed) but targeting young hungry attacking players can’t be a bad starting point for us given how KMcks team help to improve! I guess we might still be short of one more forward10 or perhaps a loan striker?
I assume Billie Jean signing means we have accepted Doak is not going to get done in our favour but you never know. |  |

I think we're mostly fine at CM, Morsy and Cajuste as starters with Philips and Taylor as options off the bench.
With Ogbene out, Burns is the only proper winger we have. It does help that Philogene can play on both sides although I seem to remember that he's not as good on the left.
We do need a centre forward though, obviously. Along with everyone other club in our position, it's the same every January. |  |

Of course we do? We don't look like scoring anywhere near enough goals to stay up. I think we're the 3rd lowest scorers as it stands. |  |

Same opinion here regarding Phillips. Has shown nothing to suggest he should be starting,had done ok in a few cameo aub appearances,but nothing more and hasn't been available to us for about half the season either. Nothing against the lad,I was hoping it was a gamble that paid off,but clearly it hasn't (so far)

Phillips is pushing Morsy for a starting position. And probably deserves it on current form.
If we didn’t have Kalvin Phillips pushing Morsy for a starting position then we would be looking at a player like Kalvin Phillips. [Post edited 9 Jan 8:03]

This is it. We need to score more goals, added to which we've all commented on how we are unable to make those game changing subs on 65 minutes any more.
We have a bad habit of fading at the end of games, and a lot of that is due to our lack of depth.
FWIW, Philogene clearly hasn't set the world on fire at Villa, but McKenna has wanted him for a while, and tends to get the best out of the players he really goes after. [Post edited 9 Jan 8:13]

How is it not true? Again,nothing against Phillips personally,but he was our marquee signing,highest paid player in the squad and we've had barely any football out of him. (I'm not blaming him for that either) I think it's fair to say we expected more from him so far... |  |
