If Jack Clark was designated taker why didn't he insist on taking it and should Wolfie have appointed the taker. After that the game lost impetus and this miss, Muric's bizarre pass to their forward then redeeming himself with a save, and Ali's air shot in front of an open goal which then fell to JC to tuck in, were all talking points. Ali should get loaned out to get game time and develop... But on the bright side we played some good stuff, Philipps was outstanding some great long passes, Townsend and Godfrey were excellent.

From the replays it looks like he's going for the Ivan Toney method and watching the GK for him to move and not looking at the ball. Hence he ends up scuffing the top of the ball which creates that ridiculous bounce.
Maybe he was trying to be clever to prove a point? My view would probably be if you're low on confidence but adamant you'll take it, put your foot through it and go down the middle. | | | |

Clarke picked it up to stop Bristol players taking it and delaying things then immediately gave it to Ali.
His shot might have been going wide (just) but it cannoned into a defender almost as soon as it left his foot so a bit daft to have a go at him like he missed an open goal.
He had an otherwise decent game and the growing attitude towards him from parts of the fan base is a small disgrace imo. |  |

Hopefully, for his sake and for the Club's, we bring in sufficient bodies up front, and are confident enough in Hirst's fitness now, to send AAH out on loan. Someone should want him. He has a good record in league two from when he was pretty young, and didn't do at all badly in a strong and confident Championship side last season. You'd think there'd be someone in league one who might see upside in him? Certainly there should be a League team somewhere who would give him starts. I can't see him making it with us to be honest, but if he's going to, he needs to improve and develop by going out on loan. |  | | |

Yeah it wasn't an air shot at all, there was one in the 2nd half but I think it was Massimo.
Ali did alright yesterday (penalty aside) to be fair. Led the line OK and did what was needed for 70 minutes, and crucially allowed us to keep Delap off the pitch and still comfortably win the game, which was always going to be the requirement. Ultimately he's nowhere near good enough to be getting minutes in the premier league, but I don't know a single town fan disputes that. I'm not really sure what point the haters are trying to make every day tbh, we can all see he's out of his depth in the league. Yesterday was the ideal game to play him in though.
We need to a) keep Delap fit, b) get Hirst back up to speed and keep him at speed and c) sign another forward. That would allow AAH to go out on loan and we can revisit it in the summer and see where all parties are at. Hating on Ali achieves absolutely feck all, nobody is arguing in favour of him playing a bigger role, all people are saying is he's only featuring because we literally don't have anyone else. |  | | |
