Once again, you criticise the right thing but then add a big "but".
You can plainly take the view that any sort of positive discrimination is something that, as a matter off policy, you choose not to purse, without quite deliberately and robustly saying that it has actively caused a plane crash and reduced air safety, which is plainly nonsensical.
This is fascistic othering of minorities and people with any sort of disability. We saw in the 40s where that ends up. |
An open mind towards minorities is a relatively new thing.
I was taken to task, in 1980’s, by a more senior manager for employing someone with a disability.
Thankfully we have moved on but any attempt to turn the clock back needs to be resisted. |  |

Absolutely.
As an extension to this (which was what my post was trying to get across, possibly clumsily) is the fact that they are willing to make stuff up if it sounds like it furthers their goals. Everything needs to be fact checked which will become exhausting over a 4 year term and I am sure they know this.
They will count on that push back weakening over the years as people simply get tired of checking everything.

Based on just that response it could be easily inferred that the comment relates to not caring about the colour of skin of the pilot/crew and just that it’s just about making sure the job is done by the best person possible.
Which is definitely not a racist statement by my interpretation, however because of the context and the organisation that it represents means the intention and meaning can be very different but I’m still not convinced it’s an openly racist comment.
The whole DEI situation is concerning as there is clear unconscious bias and in too many places/organisations just open racism/sexism and homophobia but there is also a fine line between positive action and positive discrimination.
What doesn’t help the debate is someone like Trump who permanently just spouts whatever thought is going through his head as who is going to stop him, and then the sycophants who regurgitate the same propaganda further cementing Trumps belief that he is pretty much a god. |  | | |

I'm a bit in the middle on this. Do I think it's openly racist? No. Do I think it's a deliberate use of those words to keep the discussion about people's skin colour, and imply that Biden's government WAS more worried about skin colour than ability? Absolutely yes. |
