Not looking good for FM25 17:33 - Feb 4 with 8698 viewsdavblue

Supposed update from them on the new game by the end of January that’s due for release in March and complete radio silence from them when they are usually very active on social media.

A Few rumours that the release date is being pushed back to May or the game shelved until FM26. Would be typical that Ipswich are in the prem for the 1st time in 20 years and there will be no FM edition.

Contractually, the HAVE to release it before the end of April.

I suspect it may be a version to skip as likely to be buggy and by the time all the issues are ironed out they'll need to be working on FM26.

The communication has been really disappointing though. Especially for those that have already paid for it.

I wonder if that’s the reason they have been quiet and havent acknowledged that there will be a delay to the announcement. Might be having talks to not release it with 3rd parties as it’s not going to be good enough for what they want to do.

Wonder if this is the end of Miles Jacobson as this isn’t a very good story for SI games and FM.

I suspect a lot of people have given up on it and there will be those who will not bother even if it does get released.

FM24 is a perfectly serviceable game still and November will be here before you know it for the next one. Plenty of data updates if people really want to get the current squads, divisions etc.

Given that others can do data updates how difficult would it have been for them to do what PES did in 2020 - 2021 and just come out and say the game is delayed, very sorry, but here's how to upload the updated divisions, squads etc.

Given one bloke in his bedroom seems to be able to provide update files that look to be bang up to date you'd imagine Miles could have hired a team to put this together as soon as it was known it would be delayed.

They are easy enough to do. It's just time consuming depending on how many nations you want to apply it to and how much detail you want to go into.

I've done one myself for personal use as I wanted to get as close to FM25 on FM24 as I could without it being a year out on the calendar. Just set up your future transfers on the editor, do some creative league tabling on FMRTE while simming 23-24, jobs a good un.

SI games said it would take resource away from the new game, data would have to be re done as the 2 games are very different and u suspect when that was announced they thought it would be out by March but it’s obviously been a a difficult game to get ready.

All the data is continuously updated throughout every year so it wouldn't need a team to be put together to do it - but just obviously can't be done for whatever reason.

My year as an ITFC researcher has been no different to any other re deadlines etc

Interested in what this entails Joe.

Do they have one person per club who suggests the attributes for players, lets them know about transfers/loans etc?

Realistically unsure how much of a change they can really be making anyway. This is a prime example of if it aint broke dont try and fix it

I'm still on FM23 and was holding out for 25. Is it worth grabbing 24 in sale whilst 25 goes through it's bug fixing stage?

Just play subbuteo instead, MUCH more fun than stupid computer games and joysticks.

Yes re transfers, loans, contracts and all the fixed stuff.

With regards to attributes and ratings again it’s all down to me but within a framework helping roughly dictate where the players overall rating should be

The games where they've done major engine overhauls are always disasters anyway, I can't say I'm surprised.

I would say so yeah, not huge differences from what I recall but enough to make it worth a buy in a sale.

They seemed to make several good changes which surprised me as I didn't think they'd push the boat out that far given they knew they'd be switching to Unity in a year.

Match engine much better and I liked the addition of the option to play the game in the real world so players who signed in the January window, would have the transfers set to join in the date they did, which really helped the immersion and realism side of things.

Licensing / Contractual issues presumably?

Personally, I won’t be going anywhere near FM25 now, unless they give it away. It’s clearly going to be a bit of a mess - FM25 will just become a beta for a slightly fixed FM26.

I’ll be passing on it. Just started a new save in the Norwegian Fourth Tier with Svolvaer to tide me over until FM26.

It'll probably be on GamePass again if you wanted to try it cheaply.

Funny enough I worked for one of the main developers of the game last year, he mentioned something to do with Hawkeye licence or in game tech being reason it’s been delayed. I’m sure that’s what he said.

On the SI forum, they are now posting pictures of their pets.

Safe to say most people have given up on any communication, let alone a release.

I’ll be playing FM 24 until FM26 comes out, I’ve absolutely no faith at this point.
I spoke briefly to Miles Jacobson at Insomnia gaming festival last March, he was very enthusiastic about all the upcoming changes for FM25, I can only assume they’ve been totally blind sided.

Miles doesn't have a great reputation amongst the fan base, some see him as overly egotistical.

This is a horrific case of self-sabotage, though. Not even an update or announcement.

I’m unaware of this- found him very pleasant and knowledgable to chat to and he was full of praise for Ipswich Town!

They should have released an up to date database to allow you to play this season.
