Supposed update from them on the new game by the end of January that’s due for release in March and complete radio silence from them when they are usually very active on social media.
A Few rumours that the release date is being pushed back to May or the game shelved until FM26. Would be typical that Ipswich are in the prem for the 1st time in 20 years and there will be no FM edition.

I think that would have gone against licensing agreements, sadly- there are updated databases out there, however, I’ve been playing one recently!
Yup, this is the problem.
I would say they could release it as DLC is they need some extra polish time but I doubt people would be that bothered to buy it when you can download it for free elsewhere.
EA have let punters down for years. And sadly, I've been one of the ones paying every year to allow them to continue to do so.
I'm mainly in the game for Clubs (ok, no issues there) and player career mode, which, frankly has been crap since FIFA 23, which already needed major improvements.
I think they have branched out to too many game modes and can't handle getting them all properly right in a year's timeframe. They need to completely regroup.
Edit for spelling.

EA don't care about any game modes other than Ultimate which makes them silly money ($1.8billion in revenue).
For a game they can pump out every single year, that is absolutely mental. Most developers would dream of having something like that.

I've never wanted to play Ultimate, and have long accepted that's why none of the other gameplay matters to them.
Don't understand why they don't drop the other stuff, when they only really care about Ultimate. If it makes that much money, just concentrate on that. Don't try to monopolise a market you can't serve properly. It's immoral. But capitalism at its finest.

Contractually, the HAVE to release it before the end of April.
I suspect it may be a version to skip as likely to be buggy and by the time all the issues are ironed out they'll need to be working on FM26.
The communication has been really disappointing though. Especially for those that have already paid for it.
At least they can get a refund, there's absolutely no way I'm buying FM25 whenever they release it. Personally I think FM24 is one of the best games in the series, love playing it so won't mind doing that for another year.

They’ve had such a monopoly on the market for so many years now, I hope this serves to increase competition. For all its success, we’ve been starved of choice and I’d like to see new, fresh ideas come to the fore to compete.

I have ideas. Anyone a Unity game developer?
They've had a stranglehold because they have three decades of domain knowledge. People have tried to replicate it (including EA), and nobody has come close.
I can't even imagine how complex the match engine code must be.
The same goes for games that Paradox makes, they very little competition because ultimately they are just very good at what they do.

Even their old publisher (Eidos) tried to replicate the same game in-house back when the Championship Manager/Football Manager split happened but that didn't turn out well for Eidos.
Do you think some SI developers might jump ship and recreate FM in the old format to compete with SI and their new Unity version?

It'd be really difficult to do.
FM has iterated on their systems for years and years, they've got hundreds of volunteers (like Joe) who help with the attributes for the players, they've got loads of rights deals etc.
It's one thing to work on and understand the engine but another thing to recreate it.
You'd need to have a lot of capital and then you'd need your first release to be successful enough to go up against FM which has a very well-established and pretty loyal user base.
I'm still on FM23 and was holding out for 25. Is it worth grabbing 24 in sale whilst 25 goes through it's bug fixing stage?
Better to play an older version and have the fun of getting promoted. I haven't played FM for years but I used to love to start with a League Two team and see if I could get them to the premier league.

Shame but not surprising.
Considering there said they didn't put a lot of effort into FM24 to focus on this, cancel it after taking pre-orders and refusing to update the data, I would say there would be some serious pressure for heads to roll.
Shame there is no real competition to punish the company further and I hope Miles finally gets the chop.

Calling for heads to roll over a game is very over the top.

Changed my mind, looked into the financial situation of SI this morning.
Oof, can only imagine revenue has taken a nose dive. Might be a real struggle to even continue as it is as not sitting on a lot as of March 2024.
Yikes, just had a look at Companies House myself. Not a pretty picture whatsoever - and that's *before* this shambles.
Ultimately, they are entirely beholden to Sega Europe. So long as they keep funding them, they'll survive (albeit they're probably something of a zombie company this year).
