...as per a suggestion from someone in the post. Clearly lines were crossed with some of what was posted and unnecessarily so. I'm completely fed up with having to deal with these types of pile-ons from the same users time and again. All long-term users, they've been asked nicely and not so nicely on many occasions in relation to various other posters. Some of it is trolling, some of it just plain bullying. So, what do we do, ban them or ask for them to treat other posters and ourselves with greater respect once again?

As much as I've been annoyed by Glassers' twisting and misleading in political debates over the years, it was never outright trolling like the other two involved in the thread in question. I'm pretty amazed that it's his account that has ended up being deleted and not the other two.

As Phil said, what he posted was potentially libellous.

Implying another poster is racist isn’t just a bit of good natured ribaldry.

The original post was hastily deleted but not before several of us had seen it, and it certainly was not as light hearted as it was subsequently painted.

I agree regarding the other two. They will probably calm down for a bit now and I imagine Phil will let him back soon.

Hopefully, the message will have finally landed and they can all play together again in a kinder, less spiteful fashion.

I wonder if Phil has ever thought about introducing trial by ordeal to decide whether someone should be banned. And for cases where two or more people are at loggerheads, there could be trial by combat to decide who goes.

There were two main forms of ordeal - fire and water - with God being seen as determining guilt through the result.

For fire, the accused had to carry a red-hot bar of iron and walk 9ft (3m). If the wound healed cleanly within three days, they were innocent. But if it festered, guilty

With water, the accused was plunged into a pool of cold water on a rope which had a knot tied in it, a "long hair's length" away from the defendant.

If they sank to the depth of knot, the water was deemed to be accepting them at God's behest. They were therefore innocent and dragged out before they drowned.

But if they floated the water was rejecting them, rendering them guilty.

If you see this GB, I hope you get some good news regarding your daughter.

FWIW. I didn’t think your deleted post was offensive. Personal but not offensive, and you clearly explained the reason for removing it. Bit of a shock to pop on now and see you’ve gone.

You don't think calling someone casually racist is offensive?
I mean, we're all different, but I wouldn't think you'd like it.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Or they could just double down on their behaviour and dab the downvote button in petulant unison….

Shame such cowardly posts are allowed to be edited before the lock though.

Even when dressed up as ‘affectionate and humerous’, politician style, and defended away infinitum by all his cabal of mates, it is nothing of the sort, merely bullying in plain sight, as has been the case for longer than I can remember.

I didn’t think he did, so apologies if I missed or mis-interpreted that bit. I took it at face value as an intended light hearted post, but given your reaction it was obviously ill-judged at best. I don’t believe it was meant to be nasty, but given the constant references/digs (not just by Glassers) I can also see why you wouldn’t have liked it. You’re quite right - I wouldn’t want to be on the end of some of the posts that have been aimed at you.

I’m not sure why dolly should have to put up with that actually, regardless of what gb’s mates think.

You've made your point several times on this thread. As someone who has been banned for abuse yourself in the past, your gloating makes you look a bit silly

It's been dealt with though, hasn't it.

The continued digs after GB has already been banned are a bit unedifying.

You seem to be responding out of context mate, but do explain if I’ve got that wrong.

It is all very unedifying. Even me posting on this is unedifying.

Textbook internet. Argue relentlessly. Provoke. Drag up old crap. Pile on. Go too far. React. React again. React again. Judge. Comment. Blah. Blah. Blah blahdy blah.

It’s even worse than textbook internet in a way, as we’ve grown up/old together. So there’s all that back history (or baggage if you’d rather) to lug around. Like a family, we can’t pick who our forum-mates are, we just have to try and ignore our embarrassing uncle in the corner.

Quite simply Phil ban the protagonists give them a two week ban to calm down and set the rules on them posting again and if they don't a permanent ban.

Whether it is long standing posters and sympathies for same on the forum, we really don't need this carp and uncalled for posts attacking others.

Others will fill their space and feel freer to post their thoughts without retribution. Leading to a healthier discusion on all things on TWTD. That is the important piece not all the continued infighting over the years. (Which is tiresome for this poster, can't imagine what it's like for you and Gav)

Be done with it all is my vote.
