VAR from 5th round of FA Cup. Confused .. 22:40 - Feb 14 with 1836 views | Hugoagogo_Reborn | I've tried googling, but haven't found a satisfying answer. How will this be implemented? We had to add loads of cameras at Portman Road to meet VAR requirements. Surely at least 4 or 5 clubs left in this round don't have the amount of cameras we have at our ground. Is it not a 'full' version of VAR? Must say I'm confused as to how it will be facilitated. Anyone know more on this topic?

That doesn't seem fair, or in the spirit of the competition, to me. Either all VAR, or no VAR, surely?

I agree, have always said it should either be at every game or not at all, until this season it’s been in use since the 3rd round for the last few years.

VAR from 5th round of FA Cup. Confused .. on 23:54 - Feb 14 with 1663 views | Trequartista | They've fixed it so all the premier league teams at home. They just left one (Preston) to try and make out they didn't fix it, but all 7 of the other ties, the team in the higher league position just happen to be at home. [Post edited 14 Feb 23:56]

The SIL used to fix their cup draws so that the bigger teams avoided one another. They were invited countless times to carry out the draws live on Radio Suffolk but the chairman always refused and eventually admitted that it was because he’d no longer be able to fix the draw.

I thought it was VAR at all grounds from 5th round onwards. ‘It has been agreed that VAR will be utilised for every match in the Fifth Round of the competition through to the Final at Wembley Stadium, and will not be in operation for the Third and Fourth Rounds‘

The most PL games they would ever be supervising at any one point is 10 so with 8 in the 5th round, they can easily cope. [Post edited 15 Feb 11:36]

I'm sure I'll be in the minority on this one but I never understand why this bothers people so much. Don't have the same referee teams at games either. If some stadia has the facilities then use it. There are so many other things that aren't a level playing field (including the pitches etc in FA cup). Being able to use VAR because you have it is fine. Doesn't make a blind bit of difference to another game being played 100 miles away that doesn't have it. They also might not have undersoil heating etc etc but would be stupid to say turn that off because it all has to be the same. It's yet another reason for people to get their knickers in a twist. It would only be unfair if they were using VAR for one team in the same match and not the other. [Post edited 15 Feb 11:52]

...and of course to create a proper level playing field the weather must be the same at every ground (sic). If you've got it (VAR) flaunt it. The goal line technology should always be used if it's available.

I can't see that it's unfair at all. I just have a problem that VAR doesn't improve the accuracy of decisions and so is pointless altogether.

Exactly. We can all agree that the application isn't perfect but it's got better. I think the more it can be automated e.g. offside become like goalie and instant etc the better.
