All this talk of him leaving I say no chance No team in the top 8 would take a gamble on him. After one home win so far this season I don't believe he has enhanced his reputation this Yr.
He is also on ridiculous wages and got some credit in the bank so I believe he sits tight and tries to put right what has gone wrong this season.

Every game we go out and play regardless of the result enhances his reputation as we play football the way all top prem clubs do, we just don't have the players who can play it as well as the those clubs, so it's easier to be able to blame results on players abilities over and form of managerial influences.

We lost to spurs 1-4, but their board will see how we set up, at home despite only winning once at PR all season, and he's set up the same front footed, high press way. They would have been impressed despite us losing 1-4.

I strongly disagree with that, though I do admire his persistence and principles.

If you don't have the players that can play that way then a top coach has to take that into account and find a compromise. Look how Moyes has turned Everton around.

I hope so because I want him to stay either way.

I agree a PL club might not go for him, but don't rule out foreign interest.

Successful British managers abroad are pretty few and far between. When they have come, they are normally the elder stateman type.

No way they would offer him more money than he's currently on either. It was also be a huge gamble for him as he has limited international networks as we've seen this season.

I'd really doubt him going abroad. If he does go it will be Spurs or someone in the good but not great category. Imo.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Any prem opportunity will be looked at and considered by McKenna, being a top 8 team wont be anywhere near as important as you think from here.

There are many many luxuries and benefits KMc has at Ipswich that he will not get if he does move on, to most if not all PL clubs.

In essence he has built a football club here from the ground up, from training facilities, final say to all transfers, financial backing at almost every single opportunity, complete and utter stability and control of pretty much everything in the footballing department.

I personally think he will do very well wherever KMc goes in football, but wherever he does go, will be very different to his time here.

KMc has been, and continues to be a blessing to Ipswich, but I think KMc himself would say as far as first managerial jobs go, Ipswich Town has been very very good to/for him as well.

It's actually wild to me to think that McKenna is still so young and remains in his first senior managerial job and has achieved what he has in three years. He's still learning - and no doubt learning fast at this level. Hope the guy continues to handle it well internally and doesn't ever wake up in the middle of the night feeling overwhelmed by it all. I know I would!

The job was his

The squad, facilities, technical backroom staff, scouting were seasons ahead of us - and would have given him a foundation of a successful season.

Think how well his set-up and thinking would have fared with the quality of players at the Amex. Encisco can’t even get in their team, but waltzes into ours.

BUT he chose to stay here! And carry on the project.

Yes the financial package will have been influential.

But as a stepping stone to a top 4-6 club it was a much better move.

Yes he’s made mistake this season. But let’s be thankful.

I agree his stock has massively fallen. And that means he may stay here and try and get us up with a better quality squad for season 26/27 in the Premier League.

I don’t think his stock has massively fallen tbh.

He might still keep us up…

My biggest worry would be Iraola leaving Bournemouth for a bigger club and then eyeing up McKenna as a replacement.

I don't think McKenna's reputation has changed much this season. It was always going to be a huge task keeping us up and he'll most likely earn brownie points for the loyalty he's shown turning down better opportunities to stay.

Why? He'd have joined Brighton in the summer if that's the sort of profile he wants but he doesn't, at least, not yet. And, if Bournemouth make Europe, Iraola won't be going anywhere.

Nothing to see on this one.

If we go down, it's a step straight back into the Premiership. It's a different situation to last summer.

This.

As much as it pains me to say it, Spurs would be mental not to go for him in the summer regardless of what league we’re in. I can see them going for McKenna, Delap and Hutchinson. He’d want assurances that he’s going to be given time and resources but with the right backing he’ll know he could have them competing at the top of the league and in the Champions League in the next few years. With the right messaging to the fans and the right backing from the people at the top it would be the perfect fit for him. World class stadium, academy, and training facilities, we can’t compete with that unfortunately.

I would use your whole post as something to downgrade Kieren with.

A top manager plays according to the players he has, their strong points, how can we can win points. I'm no fan of Moyes, Allardyce or their like buy they are smart enough to realise you can't out play teams, you have to use your strengths.
