FA Cup dilemma - team selection 12:40 - Feb 27 with 2391 viewsPinewoodblue

With just two Premier League games next month, and on the back of a below par performance last night I really hope McKenna doesn’t make double digit changes for Forest game.

For me Palmer has to start with a back four of O’Shea, Woolfenden, Burgess & Townsend.

Midfield a question of who is available.

If only because Forest won’t expect it would play both Delap & Hirst up front plus two wide players

Would give Woolfie the captains armband if no Morsy.

Depends on who is fit...

If it were me, I would start Townsend, Burgess, and Wolfenden.

Is Chaplin back? If he's fit ideally, he should play at some point. Broadhead and Hirst should also be starting.

An East Anglian Town overtaken by Londoners

I say treat it like a PL match and play our strongest XI (whatever McKenna thinks that is!) to try and maintain some consistency among the team.

Possibly with the exception of Hirst starting instead of Delap.

I think you will find Kieran will do the same as previous rounds. Wholesale changes where he can.

Muric
Godfrey. Woolfy. Burgess Townsend
Luongo. Taylor
Chappers. Szmodics Broady
Hirst

The team in the cup has been much closer to our strongest XI than the team in the league

Should play our strongest team( if he knows what it is) smoke forest out,
Good chance to go further if we and nothing to lose, two league games only,
Forest on the other hand are starting to wobble a bit in the league although there in the middle of four hard matches,
Serious thoughts from them go strong and forget European football, go second string and try for European football,
I think they have city after our game,
We should go for it,

tricky one to balance.

we want to have a strong team to build some confidence.

we want players like wolf, burgess, townsend, hirst etc who are one injury away from starting to keep some match fitness.

we want player coming back from injury to get some game time.

i expect it to be more of a mix than previous cup teams

We have to go for this. Win and get a home draw for 1 win from Wembley

Play the strongest team. So:

Palmer
Tuanzebe Woolfenden Burgess Davis
Morsy Cajuste
Hutchinson Chaplin Broadhead
Delap

Townsend for Davis also acceptable.

All the calls for strongest 11 and two up front. Like moving back 20 years. I maybe get a big guy up front and a little guy running off him with Mick as attacking coach?

It'll be whatever our '2nd string' looks like, and Forest will probably go down the same route.

Agree with the general consensus though that we should be going a bit stronger than that.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

If you were a Forest fan, wouldn't you want the club to play their strongest XI? They haven't own a trophy since the League cup 35 years ago & they should expect to beat Town at home, which puts them in the last 8. With Liverpool & Arsenal out, they are the top ranked club left in the competition.
Of course, the money men may see earning a Champions' League spot as far more valuable, although they won't have an earthly of winning that competition.

I too would like to see us go strong and give it a real go, by the time we play, we'll be one of just 9 teams left in it!
