Some lovely touches and running off the ball. Looks confident tonight.

We paid £22m for him, so it will need to be £30m plus - and when you look at the market then that's a pretty normal fee for someone so young with a season of PL football under his belt

What do we do as a championship club with say 70-80m from Hutch and Delap though?

Omari is going to be a helluva lot harder to hold onto for next season than many people realise...

No chance of keeping him. Delap, Hutch, Philogene, Muric (Cajuste, Phillips and Enciso obviously) and probably Greaves, O’Shea, and possibly Clarke, Palmer, Ogbene, Johnson, Townsend and Godfrey will all be off.

I suspect interest in most of that lot apart from the loanees of course. I suspect we’ll have to entertain bids for quite a few of them to a void netting into P&S doodoos.

Save the pennies for the following summer when we want PL players.

I think this thread basically speaks volumes of our issues this season. We have spent a lot of money on a lot of players who should be great in the Championship or, in a season or two, in the top tier. But are not good enough right now.

Well, yeah, thanks for that insight, Sherlock.

8 figure (or close to) fees on a couple of CMs and a striker would be £25-30m

Add a couple of PL loans and that's another £5m-£10m

And then we get 100 points and go again in the PL

This is mostly way off the mark. We will have little need to have to sell - there are plenty of threads on the forum outlining numbers, and how we're mostly likely able to spend a few 10s of million to strengthen. as needed.

Some players listed will inevitably be off, due to loans expiring (Cajuste, Phillips, Enciso and Godfrey). Who knows, one or two may even be persuaded to return for regular games / alternatives available. Cajuste maybe an outside chance.

Signs are there will be a bidding war for Delap, so I see him leaving. The others you list I see on the balance of opportunities as staying.

Three U21s. Seems a long way from Oli Hawkins and Frank Nouble.

Frank Nouble who played for England U19s?

Weird person to choose to illustrate the point!

I hope you’re right, as I’d like most of them to continue developing with us. In 2-3 years we could have quite a side. The potential problem is that a lot of the younger players are on the way up and have now got PL experience under their belts. They (or their agents!) won’t be looking for a step back into the Championship and their will be interest in them.

We’ll see. Hopefully it’s all irrelevant and we pull of a great escape act to stay up.

No danger of Palmer or Ogbene leaving I would think. Townsend may get itchy feet if we don't extend his contract, but similar to the other two, more a case of what we decide to do.

Greaves would surprise me because he hasn't found the level comfortable and we paid good money - think he needs another positive season to attract significant bids. Same for Clarke, providing he's happy here. Only clubs that may be tempted by Philogene should be those replacing us, given the opportunities others have had to sign him this season. Don't see it because he's struggled and we paid a lot very recently.

O'Shea I'm less sure about. Rumour was that we fended off Wolves in the summer, but this will be his third PL season and third relegation. Will that put potential suitors off? Think he's shown enough to still attract interest.

Omari I'm less sure about too, because he's so valued here and we paid a good amount in the summer. He hasn't exceeded his price tag yet imo and surely would be a squad player next season for most PL outfits, maybe not the promoted trio. Would he prefer to stay here if McKenna does, continue playing most minutes? Maybe a promoted club like Leeds is his best option.

I dunno how many times it has to be said? If anyone thought we could afford a whole squad of PL-ready players that would get in most other bottom-half PL starting XIs I'd love to know what they're smokin'.

Why would we need to sell 3?

It's really surprising me how people seem shocked that we will likely sell some assets. I'm saying 3 which for a relegated club is a small number. Look at any relegated clubs. It happens every single season to all the relegated clubs.

Maybe it's really the word 'need' I used. But I just think that is the reality. We will need to sign some new players as well. But we will just be commercially sensible and workflow a well run club. 3 is a small number and I'm hoping we can keep a lot of the talent we signed.

Poll: Who do we think McKenna (not you) will partner Greaves with ?

Hutchinson down the middle on 20:08 - Mar 25 with 649 viewsbaxterbasics

The club won't *have* to sell in big numbers in the summer.

There will likely be one or two of course.

Much depends on how much a player wants to move on, should a potential buyer come knocking, and the price being acceptable.
