I think Fulham, Brighton or any of those mid table teams with gates of between 25k and 35k are models we should be looking at. I don’t think McKenna got it wrong, there is just no way to get from a L1/Champ squad worth about £70m to a PL standard in 1 season.
Fulham worth about £320m, Brighton about 500m, even Brentford and Bournemouth are about £400m. |  | | |

And I am not sure two flawless windows would have been enough from what I’ve seen, sadly. That’s the gap. Smallest budget, inadequate infrastructure is what he/they had to work with.
Now, having seen what we are up against is an opportunity to build that training centre, Cat One, scouting networks across the world and all that we need to overtake the obvious clubs.

We are a mile away from their finances & squad level.

Naive, ridiculous, ignorant comparison. According to my calculations, Fulham have been in the Prem 17 out of the last 23 seasons. You are comparing eggs with Rolls Royces. Any of the 17 clubs above us are where any manager from the bottom 3 of the Prem downwards through the leagues want to be. Where else would they want to be. He’s got some things wrong, some things right, as have the club in general. And, no, I don’t think they have any plans in place for next season, I just think they will turn up, see what happens and have a bit of of laugh. |  |
