I want Delap here, it would ridiculous not to want him, terrific talent - but if you can’t do a deal that is best for the club, then you move on to other targets - there is nothing revolutionary or complex to understand about that.

So are you saying in the context of last summer as a newly promoted club facing competition for his signature that the deal didn't work for the club? We're doubling our money in a year, not making a loss, and he's been excellent. I struggle to see how that's a deal that doesn't work for the club. |  |

We did a deal that was excellent for the club. It's not complex.
The fact that a forum guy wants £70m for him doesn't change the reality of what it's like to negotiate in the real world.

Dunno why you're on such a downer the club, but it's getting pretty tiresome. The club is like night and day to the one it was in January 2021. Our long-term success wasn't ever going to be linear. |
