Dilemma 20:01 - Apr 13 with 2918 viewsbluelagos

Two nephews at their first game, 12 and 10 and both bought themselves a half n half scarf.

Should I disown them now or do I cut them some slack in the hope they still have a few years to learn the error of their ways?

Get the scissors and sewing kit out and make yourself a decent scarf.

It's an acceptable memento for their first game. One of the very, very few acceptable times to buy one.

Hope they enjoyed it.

Get rid of scarfs and ask them why they like Chelsea

At the game today, I could see even some Chelsea fans laughing at our chant.

"We support our local team".

The point was brought home when of the three announcements at half-time, one was for a fan from New Jersey attending their first game and another was for someone from Scotland whose first game it was.

The other strange thing was quite a surprisingly large number of empty seats in the section next to the away fans.

The fact you allowed this to happen reflects poorly on you, mate. You've gone down in my estimation.

And after you must’ve gone to some effort to get tickets, as they wouldn’t have had enough points, being their first game, and this is how they thank you? Disowning is the only right thing to do here.

I'm with JCBlue on this one; as a memento of their first ever game, FOR A KID, getting a half & half scarf is an acceptable purchase. This is the ONLY circumstance where this is the csse however.

I have to confess that I own a half-n-half scarf, one half being Barbara Knox, the other being Julie Goodyear.

Yeah - quite a few to my left - looked nice and padded too.

And the number of (what looked permanent) banners from around the world. South East USA, Saudi Arabia, India just three of the supporters clubs that had a banner at the ground.

Chelsea have clearly tapped into the overseas dollar since we last visited.

It would have been more acceptable if their first game had been 5+ years ago when it should have been. How does a child avoid going to a football match until they are 12!?

They live in Australia tbf

Edit - And the older one apparently went to Burton away 6 years ago - so he has even less of an excuse.

The only acceptable half & half scarf is Town & Fortuna Dusseldorf

Burton hadn’t got around to inventing seats at that stage, so scarfs were probably only a pipe dream.

That will be between him/her/them and his/her/their conscience but IMHO such a person is likely now damned for eternity.
