Very easy to say he's deluded or talking absolute nonsense but in no way is cognitive decline anyway resembling Biden who literally struggled with basic sentences. Trump is in front of the cameras daily and Biden done about 30 pressers in 4 years (long pause). There is a reason the Democrats finally had to switch up the candidate at the 11th hour. trouble is we did all this in his first term. there were psychiatrists doing diagnoses after watching him interviewed on tv and then writing articles declaring him to have various pathological conditions. i suspect the reality is that he has a pretty extreme personality in terms egotism, narcism and emotional instability. he's an extremely odd but, for lots of americans, very effective, communicator. i don't think he's all that different from the last time around and i'm not sure that pathologising his oddness makes much difference in practice. | |

The headline is quite literally;
“Is Trump in mental decline? He sounds far worse than Biden ever did”
Which I responded to and disagreed with.
In terms of policy, the Trump playbook and communication hasn’t really changed since he walked down the escalator ten years ago. The difference in policy this time is that he has less road blocks and even more yes men around him. The only thing that can challenge Trump on (economic) policy is the market and in particular the U.S. bond market.
I’d actually say that he’s more of a wild card himself and can be impulsive. He has even reversed course before (see DACA) when the hardliners around him didn’t want him to.
Regardless, I think he’s just Trump with less DC lifers around him this time out. [Post edited 7 May 3:48]

Has Trump lost it? I could be persuaded either way. And that's the problem. He comes out with so much ridiculous stuff it is impossible to say whether in front of a crowd, a journalist or bashing away in the middle of the night on his 'Truth' platform. With the actions being carried out by the current US admin, can we say where Trump's decisions stop and the team's behind him start?
