My mate did that with Conor Washington when he was at Charlton. Washington was renting his house, and was unsure where he would be the following season. His kids where happy in their school, so he renewed his rent for another 12 months (as my mate wanted 12 months upfront). Mate was happy to refund any pro-rata money if he did leave. Washington did move in that preseason but his wife & kids remained at my mates property for a few months while they searched for a different property near his new club/checked out schools etc. I believe they moved/join Washington after approx 6 months of him moving clubs. Just because a player moves clubs it doesn't mean the whole family moves on that day. |  | | |

If we are talking LD - you'd have to imagine losing that year (or less) of rental payments would be chump change after a £30m move and all the trimmings that come with that. I'd even imagine Chelsea, United or whoever else wouldn't blink at paying that as an extra when he signs or alternatively at renting him a house in his new area whilst he settles in - his agent wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't try for it. | | | |
