But he certainly looks to have the measure of this game.

Often an option, comfortably knocking the ball around, not afraid to play the more challenging ball forward, good in the tackle etc etc

Rude and wrong.

He’s Championship ready.

Maybe not for a promotion chasing side, but certainly has what it takes to move up a division next season.

Seems you have too with that comment. Wrong and unnecessary.

Got to be given a chance. He's proven to be better than where he's playing. Could turn out a top player for us if given the opportunity.

You've set an incredibly low bar with your posting, so in a weird way it's quite impressive you've managed to post something so clearly idiotic even by your own standards.

McKenna sees him as a CM, so as things stand he doesn't have many ahead of him here. That'll change in the summer and it'll be interesting to see whether he stays as 4th or 5th choice or whether we loan him to a lower end Championship side to get experience at a higher level. If Wycombe had gone up, I wonder if we might have had him back for preseason with us then let him go back there.

I thought McKenna's recent comments about young CMs often starting further forward and then moving back into a DM role as the get older/bigger were interesting, and suggest that he stills see a pathway for Cam with us over the longer term.

I think maybe a Championship loan to a team where they'll play him as a 10 for a season might be better for him than risking being 5th choice CM/general purpose utility player for us.

Mostly agree but I noted he didn't win many aerial duals - if any.

I think he might be better than that. It was all lump it and hope for the best and that was never going to get the best out of him.

CH can pass the ball. Gets about the pitch and isn’t afraid of doing the dirty stuff/graft in midfield. He scored a few goals for them before the change of manager too. The only concern is he’s not the biggest, but tbf he’s played pretty much the whole L1 season and seems to be pretty robust, even if he doesn’t look it. For me he is a better player even now than Taylor is.

The key is who we replace Phillips, Cajuste and Luongo with. If they are going to be a level up on where Humphreys is, then another loan to a lower Championship, L1 promoted team would be good.

He needs to be playing. Shining his backside on the bench is no good for him any more than it will be for Delap if he goes to one of the big boys.

Exactly. Currently there will only be Luongo, Morsy and Taylor next season. Luongo probably 50/50 to go to get more football (which might depend on Humphreys pecking order) and Morsy will turn 34 in Sept! Humphreys will get pre-season to show where he is at. And of course we will go into the market and sign a couple of CMs. But decent chance he will be in and around squads next season. Still the call might be a season loan in champ is needed still.

Is a half-season loan an option in the Championship? That way if he makes a solid step up we can recall and make use of him for the second half once he has that experience under his belt.

I think potentially he’s quite a nice fit for our midfield, more successor for Luongo than Phillips for me but he’s pretty tactically versatile and his experience at left back will come in handy covering for Leif being up the pitch which McKenna likes. On the downside it’s hard to see him as a sure thing top champ midfielder and the lack of any outstanding physical attributes is potentially an issue.

this seems like the best option to me.

let him get a pre-season somewhere else in the Champ and see if he can translate his League 1 success in a Championship side that won't be expecting to go straight back up.

If he looks the part, bring him back in Jan, if not so much, let him finish the season where he is

I personally want to see him thrive here :)

Playing in a side who hoof the ball 50 yds at every chance. May have toughened him up but won't have learned much football wise absolutely shocking. Grimmer the full back played well but I know nothing about him.
