Cup final thread 15:37 - May 17 with 2547 views | bluelagos | I'll reluctantly go for a City win by 2 goals. Would love to see Palace win, underdogs and all. Very attacking front 6 for City - no real bite in their midfield. Wonder if Palace could crowd them out in the middle? [Post edited 17 May 15:38]

Cup final thread on 16:59 - May 17 by bluelagos | Nah. VAR is supposed to intervene on big things - the ball was going very wide and Harland wasn't about to knock it in - would have been very harsh to have sent him off imho |
It was going very wide because Henderson pushed it wide though. If he doesn't touch the ball, Haaland can knock it past him and have a tap in. It's debatable enough that I can see why VAR didn't get the ref to have a look. Thought the defender got a toe on the ball for the pen as well.

It's interesting. I was pretty much convinced it was a penalty and then the final angle they showed, as they said the decision had been upheld, seemed to indicate a touch from the defender, the ball appearing to deviate slightly. Need to introduce snicko into football.

Don’t give them any more ideas lol. I only saw one angle and thought it was 100%

He defo got the smallest of touches - and that was before he hit the player - so cant see how that was a pen. Anyhow - they missed so all good.

Silva played for it, dived and won it. VAR showed there was touch but as it's Man City decided to ignore it. The "there was contact" crowd are killing this contact sport.
Cup final thread on 17:12 - May 17 with 495 views | Swansea_Blue | The defender definitely got a toe on the ball for the pen. From the behind view you could see the ball change direction. Who have they got in the VAR room? A couple of chimpanzees on crack? Cracking save mind. It’s a fascinating game. Palace are brutal on the break. That’s what you need if you’re not going to see a lot of the ball. It’s where we fell down this season with far too many chances missed and normally early on in games.

Presume you are on different feed in USA? BBC showed a few angles and one was near conclusive he knicked it. Smallest of touchest and little deviation of the ball though.

Players have been doing that forever at this point, sliding in like that invites trouble. That seem way more a penalty than say Delap’s against Chelsea but I’m sure the blue tinted will tell me otherwise. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I thought the defender touched it and the attacker threw himself over the bloke’s leg. No penalty for me. Justice was done.

McCoist said penalty all day from the first angle. He sees the second angle and is furious it's been given.

More importantly, Bernardo Silva was already half-airborne, going to the ground, with his heels above his knees, at the point of any contact. It’s not even a ‘clever’ dragging of the heel to invite contact, just a blatant dive

The main difference being the defending player got a touch on the ball when making a challenge in this game.

Players not getting yellows for stopping obvious counter attacks has been winding me up all season.

And you’d certainly be the prime candidate when it comes to anything Ipswich decisions wise or politics ;) I’ll have to see the second angle for this one as some stating that’s the case. However, there was a lot more contact on the player. Delap flicked his foot into the keeper at best in that decision. Clever but I can only imagine the board if it was the other way around!

Refs seem to sometimes never give any in the 1st half and then give 20 in the 2nd half for every foul.

It was very soft and he played for it for sure, not sure there was much difference in the level of contact with today's one though. He's throwing himself over before there's any contact. If you see the other angle, looks clear the defender gets the ball too.

Hopefully they’ll show it at half time but who knows, ESPN’s coverage is rubbish. Lucky EFL rights have gone elsewhere next year.

Seen second angle does look like a very slight toe on the ball (maybe after contract) probably a 50/50 call for VAR that to overturn as clear and obvious. Henderson is lucky in my book, no doubt but that would have ruined the final so I’m selfishly pleased.

They do. And this ref is a twerp so given Palace got away with the keeper not being sent off with batting the ball away, it wouldn’t surprise me if the ref didn’t try and make up for it.

Seem to be confused between the meanings of 'obvious' and 'possible'. Cretins.

The Henderson incident is not a good for the conspiracy theorists who say only the top clubs get the calls.
