Sunderland get promoted

Offer you 20M for Jack Clarke.

Yay or nay?

If they offered 10m I think you’d take it.

I’m desperate for him to succeed, but Jesus Christ he is weak and devoid of confidence. It’s getting a bit silly now

I think he will be player of the season next year tbh

He needs a run in the side.

Maybe I should have gone with 17M just slightly more than we paid.

Why would they offer that? Yes I would as we’d have made a profit after one season at 20m. Personally I think he’ll be a good player for us next season but if there was an offer like that on the table I’d take it purely for PSR reasons

Down to the player really. It's good value. If he really wants to go back I don't think you'll get so much out of an unhappy player, if he wants to stay ask for £25m

Because we don’t have to sell so shouldn’t be making a loss.

And from a Sunderland perspective, he’s a god, we have been playing him out of position, he never wanted to come, we know how to get the best out of him. Or so they say.

Even more reason for us to sell him then if we make profit. McKenna isn’t going to adapt the way we play to suit one player. He was bought because our pursuit of Philogene was unsuccessful. He was always a square peg in a round hole.

Profit plus 20m towards our PSR…seems like a bit of a no brainer to me.

Edit - this isn’t to say that I think he’s a bad player (personally I don’t and I think he’d be good next season in the champ, but 20m in PSR could be valuable in helping us improve our squad)

I'd take it. We've got Philogene and Broadhead who can both play in his position and I don't think he's necessarily much better than either, we could reinvest the money in other priority areas. There's a player in there for sure but it's not worked out so far.

He's played 20 games this season.....

He may do well next year but he's mile off Prem, and that's why he bought him.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

We saw how he can do the biz in the Championship when we played Cov in the cup.

Unless we're making some serious profit, or he really wants to go, we should hang onto Clarke.

I've felt sorry for him this season as he has been unlucky but he looks out of his depth in the PL.

Not being physically strong doesn't help but no defender likes a player running at them. I thought his ability to dribble with the ball would still cause problems, but for some reason he seems incapable of dribbling with the ball.

He doesn't think fast enough and isn't physical so ends up just dribbling in to cul de sacs and bouncing off defenders.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

He might have played 20 matches but only 8 starts in the league. He has started 3 matches in a row once and 2 consecutive matches on only one other occasion.

I would say he is the very definition of not getting a run in the side. But the issue is that very few of our attacking players have had for numerous reasons and it shows in the lack of partnerships built.

I think your talent should be there when it's given a chance. You don't get 20 trials or 20 games where a scout is there. You have to take your chance and Clarke has emphatically wasted every chance.

No improvement on Broadhead, and there lies our problem for the season.

Spent so much money to hardly improve on our Championship side.
