We know where it is - The Congo, as were most of the photos that Trump showed that were supposedly South Africa. Ramaphosa basically allowed Trump to make a fool of himself, or in other words just let him talk.

It's not just the wages in USA that prevents Apple from manufacturing there, it's the quality of workers.

He'll be double furious when he finds out that he was actually standing up for murdered black people as opposed to slandering them as criminals like usual. [Post edited 23 May 16:41]

Trump is probably upset because Ramaphosa called him ‘Mr President’ rather than ‘sir’. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

He's a convicted felon, an adjudicated sex abuser, part of an alleged plot to overturn an election, and a serial liar, but this time he's stepped way over the line for me. Using an apostrophe on a plural?! Outrageous. [Post edited 23 May 16:31]

Call his bluff on tariffs - ramp them up and keep ramping them up until he’s forced to back down. If you are invited to a public @rse kicking, don’t grovel as Macron and Starmer did or fight him with truth as Zelenski tried to do. Just let him rant on and wear a bored smile. Even the American news outlets are challenging some of his lies. One day, they may even recognise that the dear leader an orange idiot, but I’m not holding my breath on that. As far as Apple are concerned, even if they can make iPads and iPhones etc in the US (they don’t even have the capacity to make the screws that hold them together at the moment), how long does shtgibbon think it’ll take for production domestically to replace imported stuff, where will it be produced, will Americans be happy to receive Indian and Chinese level wages and if not how much extra will the American people be prefer to pay for what is already an expensive product? There were some Congo images, but the crosses were in South Africa. But you’ll be absolutely shocked to hear that they weren’t burial sites and the cars weren’t queuing up to pay their respects to the 1,000 dead love ones. It was a temporary memorial for a couple who were brutally killed in 2020. So obviously still serious sh*t, but Trump has cheapened it and disrespected them, their family and their community. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ce81334je72o.amp

Totally off his trolley, and it’s deliberate. He posted a very normal message after Biden’s cancer diagnosis was made public. Perfectly pleasant, rational and thoughtful and completely at odds with his normal modus operandi (although we don’t know if someone wrote it for him). But then he’s back to behaving like a constipated 2 year old again. Have you seen how he’s retaliated against Harvard? He’s banned them from recruiting overseas students, but worse all the ones currently there are being sent home. He’s operating as a dictator.

He’s taken against Harvard big style. It’ll survive him, I’m sure, especially as the cleaners have more brains in the end of their mops than he has in his head. Yes, he’s operating just like a dictator because he knows he’s right and needs no contradiction or challenge from anyone. America is turning Authoritarian/rogue state. The world is changing and for Starmer this will present opportunities as well as a multitude of problems. Time will tell if he has the gonads to meet the challenges and build relationships with likeminded people who are under threat.

I’m normally pretty quick to criticise this Labour govt, but I think Starmer is playing it as well as he can. Tickling Trump’s tummy enough to keep him happy whilst simultaneously doing more significant business with Europe. I’m not sure what else he can do. We shouldn’t have to account for the tantrums of a fascist wannabe dictator when choosing our own foreign policy, but we are where we are. Trump went too far when he attacked The Boss imo, calling him aged with atrophied skin lol. Springsteen looks in a damn site better nick than Trump does!

No good news, I'm afraid They went their seperate ways, split up I'm still in communication with the lass Yullia, she is struggling but clinging on.... moved back in with family.... still in Kharkiv. She is working, but really struggling with ever increasing food and utility bills but static income He was running scared of Press gang snatch-squads that were roaming the streets to forcibly gather in new recruits, just hiding indoors all day every day, never leaving the apartment. The donation of a heater helped them a lot.... genuinely, many thanks to all who donated She held big hopes for the Summer 24 Offensive that didn't amount to anything, medium hopes that Trump would be able to talk a bit of sense into Putin.... but now just the grim realisation that this conflict will continue for the foreseeable

I understand why Starmer is grovelling to Trump, but I don’t like it from a morality point of view - it seems wrong to me. Nor do I think from a U.K. economic and political perspective it will work. It just makes us look like a weak, unreliable partner to anyone else we might wish to deal with, including Canada, EU, Japan and just about everyone else. If by brown nosing, KS is buying time and working with the above countries, distancing itself militarily etc behind the scenes that’s ok. If not, he will fall between two stools. I fear it’s more a short term ‘eat him first’ and hope the problem goes away policy. The U.K. will never get any change out of the US. Never has, never will. Everything comes at exorbitant cost at best and that will get worse under the new authoritarian regime that sees the far east and ties with the Dictators as the future. Nor will other countries view us as reliable in any way shape or form. So I get why Starmer did what he did waving a childish little King Charles invite etc, but I hope it’s the last time and that Trump never makes it over here.

He is both dishonest and ignorant. Always hard to tell which applies to a particular claim. He excludes digital and other services from the figures to massage them. Add netflix, google etc and they look rather different. He pretends that uneven trade demonstrates unfairness. But has never demonstrated that. We dont buy US cars because they are shyte. He ignores his country's own sales taxes when talking about vat. etc etc He has an unelected fascist advising him. And bases foreign diplomacyy on youtube conspiracy videos. Nothing is surprising anymore.
