...would he be worth considering at Championship level?

My gut feel is no because whilst he's decent at tier 2 level, his injury record is poor and I don't think he has the physicality to play in the Premier League, so we're better off with splurging a good whack on a hot young prospect with a top physique and perhaps a third striker in the mould of Big Keiff.

Whaddyareckon?

Bring him in, after all look how well crossing the Waveney went with Andy Marshall . . . . oh, wait.

Which of course, is completely irrelevant.

Between now and the end of the universe will there be a thread where you don't attack Delap?

This thread isn't even about him but you still managed it.

SB

The thread is about strikers. Delap is a soon to be departed striker. So I assume we are talking his replacement. So have given an opinion on how I think Sargent would be better for our system than our soon to depart striker.

If that’s ok.

Don't want him here, but glad he won't be playing against us for Norwich.

Regardless of the Norwich connection, I don’t think we can afford to slap down a sizeable fee on an injury-hit striker, however good they are. Especially when Hirst is our other CF. Happy to see the club pursuing younger targets again.

I can't get over his resemblance to Ronald McDonald and his nodge allegiance.

Of course he is a good player and I would support him if we signed him, but I just wouldn't feel comfortable with it. However, there are a limited number of strikers available. Would he press well enough for our system? I don't know because I don't watch him generally.

I would expect him to go to a top-end Championship side or the MLS or something. If he wanted or could only get lower end he may as well stay with nodge. I am sure they would offer as much as they can afford.

Sign Ronald up.
Put him as the last name on the bench.
If for no other reason than to just annoy the Budgies.
Jobs a good 'un.

I remember signing their player of the year (Andy Marshall) on a free. That was hilarious until we made the mistake of actually selecting him.

No!

Injury prone and vastly overrated in my book!

Not sure why this has downvotes. How the hell is someone else moving here a quarter of a century ago, relevant to this discussion?

Common sense isn't the strongest point for a few on here, especially when it comes to their footballing emotions.
