Apologies, I just find it hard to be attached to a player who did well for half a season and lost interest after Christmas following all the speculation.

He is the sort of player we could do without. And let’s be honest, it is the typical young English player hype we hear all the time, which most never live up to.

Your negativity on this board is so tiresome. I honestly wonder what you get out of it.

There’s a difference between not having formed an attachment to him, and ‘fans’ on Twitter throwing abuse at him. The latter is juvenile and appalling .

If it was performance based, they wouldn’t have activated the release clause.

Depends how the release clause was structured.

According to Sky we are guaranteed the other £10M in installments. We have a sell-on clause. I would imagine that was the pay-off for the delay in payment but that is a guess.

The deal is done but the sell on clause is irrelevant, I suspect.

Unless Chelsea are selling him on for 100m at some point.

More likely he will establish himself there or become one of the very many that don’t. I’d give him a very good chance of the former.

Just wondering if it doesn't work out for him next season, and we get promoted, would we try to get him back?

Shows how far we have come selling a player under our ownership to Chelsea.

Was not long ago we were dealing wth Accrington.

There's no 'structuring' of release clauses that would include a performance related figure, or we might as well have set the release clause at £20m

Good luck to him. Did a good job for us, just a shame he wasn't with us longer.

Hopefully we can put that money to good use.

Rumour has it Slicker is going with him as a personal assistant to Delap for cooking and playing indoor games when he gets bored.

I would think it is pretty normal but it could even suit us for example if £20 million say sorted us out for PSR then getting the £10 million next year or spread over a couple could actually give us more wiggle room in the market.

Could also relate to negotiations over Guiu loan etc.

Timing of cash receipts are irrelevant for PSR. It's accounted for in the same way if we receive £30m up front or £0 as long as we contractually receive £30m and none of it is based on contingent add-ons.

I still feel like he should've started the West Ham game and came off early into the second half for one last "Liam Delap ole ole" from the crowd.

In a season where there wasn't much hope, he was the one player who would give us hope. He deserved one last chant of his song from the crowd at least.
