Easy to be dismissive and act as he was a no one but can you imagine our that season would’ve gone if we didn’t have his goals. We would’ve probably been worse than Southampton. He gave some moments to cheer and enjoy. Let’s move on gracefully |  |

Hard to know. If he does really well then he could stay at Chelsea 10 years and we don't make anything. This is where for us it may have been better if he went to a mid table club.

No feelings or attachment whatsoever
No recollection of him during his Hull stint, sort of liked what he did here but equally frustrated by his choices and silly bullishness
Not sure he will make it at a ‘big’ team - maybe a little too early for him
Feel he was sussed out during the second half of the season
Wonder whether Ashton’s comments re being “very, very, very well protected” relates to
a sizeable sell-on clause, which would be great, but also makes me think selling to a lower level PL would have been better on the basis that he would then be sold again to a bigger PL club

Last few months I don’t think he was playing for the team, but himself. So many opportunities went begging when a pass would’ve been the better option from him.

Agree, it felt like a loan. I’m actually not in the least bit sad. We’ve made a bit of money on the deal and are player wise no worse off than this time last year. Everyone has benefitted.
As for the player, he did well and will always be welcome when his career ends. Given the way McKenna likes teams to play, somebody that brings other players into the game is a better option.in my view. LD will be able to do this in a year or twos time, but he has plenty to learn.
I guess it all depends on who we replace him with to support Hirst who is a terrific player but fragile. |  | | |

Same, but then i remind myself his form dropped off a cliff. Almost like the hype maybe got to him as he appeared to try creating something on his own more often
Also, he never seemed as a good a fit to the Mckenna system as Hirst. So whilst he may be a success at Chelsea, I think it was looking less likely he would be a success under Mckenna here (i personally think it might not happen at Chelsea, but he will end up at a midtable club or back here in a season or two) [Post edited 5 Jun 12:02]
