As much as I hate to say it, is it best that he goes now? I don’t want him to leave, I just think like any good prospect player or coach if he is as good as we all think/hope at some point he will go.
Is it best now, rather than November for example.

I do sort of get what you are saying.

But no I don't think so. I want him here for as long as possible. Especially for the summer where all the pre season/transfer plans will have been arranged for him. We need to get off to a good start and I back him to lead us to one.

Probably better to go now than November.

Better still is him not to go at all.

I do agree with you here, let him go and find a replacement that will take us through the next 3 years or so.

This constant speculation is not good for the club, the players, and McKenna himself.
The fact he even considered Palace tells me he would virtually go anywhere for a premiership role that looked stable.
Brentford are tin pot with a 17000 capacitiy but for Kieran this would be another step to achieve his ultimate goal which is champions league football somewhere with a sizeable club.
Good luck to him and thanks for everything but time for a change for all of us.

But at the moment there isn’t yet a vacant position at Brentford even if it’s inevitable there will be and there is no guarantee that he’s Brentford’s choice when the vacancy comes up so when you say let him go - do you mean shake hands and call it day and walk away from the money Brentford would need to pay off his contract?

You're all mad.

He's a world class coach and he's ours. Keep him for as long as possible!

He's going to be on every shortlist for the Brentford type jobs in PL. But that's good because don't forget what it was like when our managers weren't on other shortlists!

I feel like a section of our support is almost irritated that he's still being linked to top jobs. I don't think they understand the reality of what he's done and that this season there will still have been a LOT about us that will make KM seem attractive.

The thing that might work in our favour is the ambition of the ownership. KM is part of a project here that he is shaping.

Yes, best to get rid of one of the best young coaches in the country as quick as we can.

No, i mean accept the money they agree as a settlement and move on.

I can see Brentford losing some good players over the summer and although they have big financial backing, replacements will need to be found, it could be a difficult gig for someone.

I think they will come for McKenna but he will need assurances.

I'd actually disagree with that. Him going now would be a nightmare for me as he is the key to our chances of being able to retain and recruit players. Keeping Omari and Davis will be hard enough but zero chance if McKenna goes.

FWIW I think he is committed to being here this season anyway.

I wish i shared your cosy little world, but McKenna wants to get to the top ASAP, he has stated that he is highly ambitious and he will not hang around if he can climb the ladder quickly.
If he stays i will be amazed but hope you are right sir.

There's that element in terms of continuity through pre season and the transfer window, but if he left in November as was the scenario proposed that's a tough baton pass to a new manager. In some respects its cleaner that it happened sooner and we get the right person to put their stamp on it and attacking next season. You're right there's a lot of risk in that.

Ultimately it will be out of our hands. We clearly will want him to stay, he'll have to make his own mind up IF Brentford formalised their interest.

Zero chance of keeping hutch? He has a 35 million release clause- doesn't really hinge on mckenna staying, it's if someone is willing to pay that for him, which currently we can all agree is unlikely

Turned down Brighton and Palace.

Both of which were humungous steps up from us. He has actually shown far more loyalty than a lot of other managers would have.

I don't believe he has ever stated he wants to get to the top "ASAP and will not hang around if he can climb the ladder quickly" as you put it.

He is honest about his ambition, as outlined by the quote below:

"I've been in the Premier League as a first team coach and had a big contribution to some big wins and some good seasons there. So I know the level, I've operated at that level, I think I can help players at that level and teams at that level. Yeah, ultimately in my career that's where I want to work and want to make an impact."

If someone offered us £25m and he really wanted to go, he will go. That's just the way football is. Our hope is that he is happy here and not angling for a move. I think that is contingent on McKenna being here personally, he has a fantastic relationship with him.

Yep. He's very ambitious. He's been a senior coach at Utd!!!!!

That's a good thing.

I think it's 70/30 him staying at the moment.

Everything will be okay.

No it's really not, If we value him at more than 25 million we are under no obligation to sell, unless of course the 35 million is triggered.

Its not about getting rid really is it....more that he won't want to stay.

Theres no loyalty in football anymore whether you're a player, coach, manager, etc.... the only constant is the fanbase.

He turned down 2 prem jobs whilst we were in the championship - doesn't really get more loyal than that in this day and age.

Let's not forget the clubs greatest Bobby Robson had verbally agreed to join Everton at one point half way through his tenure here.

He considered Palace... but didn't go. So why on earth does this tell you "he would virtually go anywhere for a premiership role"? Why does not doing a thing make you think someone will do a thing?

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

By all accounts and Phil maybe able to confirm , but by the time he went back to Palace and said yes, they had gone for Glasnier.
