Too much football these days on 15:23 - Jun 9 with 1033 views | quirkie | Certainly got a point, got the pointless Club World Cup for a month, three weeks after that new season starts. Ever heard of less is more. I'd like the season to start 1st week of September and end last week in April. May used for some internationals. At least a full 3 month break and be chomping at the bit again for more football. It's just reached saturation point yet FIFA, UEFA trying to make it a 12 month long season. I know is is a daft sport but American Football has a full on 6 month break every year. Doesn't seem to affect its popularity over there.

That’s the thing. If someone doesn’t want to watch football, don’t watch it. If it comes on, switch over to something else. Don’t log on to football sites etc. It’s not an especially hard thing to do.

Cash is king, you may view the tournament as pointless, but club owners don't as they get squillions to participate. Long gone is the people's game. Besides, for me, a Club World Cup makes more sense than international football especially when we (England) pick a striker from a retirement league, but didn't pick him when he'd had his best season. If Ipswich get to the Club World Cup... I'll do everything possible to be there

That's because the Americans switch straight into Baseball for the other 6 months. Cricket whilst popular doesn't carry the same weight for many.
Too much football these days on 07:56 - Jun 10 with 604 views | itfc_bucks | Must admit, I'm finding it too much for kids too. Season finished a month ago, but it's been two tournaments every weekend ever since. Have just decided to pull the boy out for a few weeks, just so he can have some downtime.
Too much football these days on 08:26 - Jun 10 with 561 views | Mark | It is far too much, and risks damaging the sport in my opinion. Players could compete in eight competitions : Premier League, Champions' League, Club World Cup, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, World Cup Qualifiers, Nations' League, and pre-season tournaments. Then there is the Community Shield, and for younger players the U21 tournament. It is relentless and may make fans wonder what is important any more. If football is on all the time, nothing is special. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

The World Cup should be once every four years for international teams, and that is it. It should not be expanded beyond the current 32 teams. The World Cup should be where the big nations meet, for a really special occasion when the world is watching. The Nations' League should be scrapped. I know it won't happen as it is all about money now, but as a fan I do not like that. I do not want to see tired players competing in new and ever expanding competitions.

FA Cup final first saturday of May, followed by home internationals. Those really were the days.
Too much football these days on 13:19 - Jun 10 with 406 views | OldFart71 | Isn't it the same with all sports now though ? Those that run these sports (tv probably) want their pound of flesh. It doesn't matter whether it's football, cricket, tennis , golf or whatever tv and the bookies have to keep these things rolling. Many of these sports are so diluted that they have no taste. Horse race meetings are on in their droves every day and night. A lot of it is low grade garbage that pays a couple of thousand to the winner, but will entice the compulsive gambler who has to have his fix. Of course there is no necessity to watch and maybe if so many didn't the tv companies would cut back, or would they ?
Too much football these days on 14:23 - Jun 10 with 361 views | Vaughan8 | You're totally right. Too much football on now. You could probably go through Saturday morning through to Sunday night watching football constantly if you watch MLS through the night and Australian football early in the morning. I'm certainly not going to watch this club world cup thing, firstly cos its on DAZN which I'm not going to subscribe too. International football has been ruined, even to the point where the major events (World cup, Euros etc) are now including more teams which means more games, to eliminate barely any teams. Euro 2024 took 36 games to eliminate 8 teams....!

Then it’s down to the individual to make it special for themselves by not watching every single match going.

Unfortunately less games also means less cash. The club World Cup is the ultimate money grab though, Ufea and Fifa want to be selling tickets every year there’s not a World Cup or Euro for some kind of summer premium event, even if they’ve just made it up. I don’t think the viewing numbers will be particular great and from what I hear tickets are going poorly as well. I can see the logic behind the Nations League to make friendless somewhat more competitive for seedings, rankings and even help some nations qualify for a major tournament.
