Where were Town on your birthday? 20:36 - Jun 16 with 6692 viewsBrianTablet

As incredible as it may seem, I've found something more exciting than the Club World Cup thingy!

https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/

We were a lowly 19th in Div One on my birthday.
(But a division above Norwich)

I wonder how many 'Top of the League' newborns we have on here?

Awful. Twentieth in Third Division (South), 25 places behind budgies, and below Col Who, Torquay and Aldershot. Those weren’t the days

Edit: should read 15 behind scum

2 years after I was born we were top of the table in division one. After being 5th and 6th the two years prior.

I was a top of the league newborn, naturally. My greater Town claim though is I was born very near to Sitters (in time if not geography).

As a June baby for me it's the final table of 79/80.

Town finished 3rd behind Liverpool and ManU, qualifying for what would be a pretty successful UEFA cup run.

79/80 was also the season we beat ManU 6-0 and Everton 0-4 away.

I can trump everyone on this.

On the day I was born, we were 20th in League Division 1.
Once I came into existence, Ipswich immediatley became the best team in the country and became Champions of England. It was all down to yours truly

Ahem.

4th in Division One, even though the season ended a week before. But...

A mere six hours before I appeared, there was much joy and celebration as we lifted the Texaco Cup, and at Carrow Road to boot.

No doubt once my birth had happened, the celebrations in the Town ratcheted up a notch, with dancing on top of the bus shelters on the Cornhill, and an all night party at that nightclub underneath the Greyfriars roundabout. (Citation needed)

On that day I was born in 1980 Ipswich were top of Division 1 on goal difference, but with a game in hand over second placed Aston Villa, both of us on 18 points.

I was born on Saturday 18th Feb same birthday as sir Bobby but obviously a different year. On that Saturday Town beat Leeds 4-0 at Portman Road. Town went on to get promoted.
Then we all know what happened we became champions of England.

Well, rock bottom of the old division 1 (should have been an omen). Had recently endured the longest winless streak in the club's history and beaten 10 - 1 by Fulham on Boxing Day. It was the ill-fated year when Jackie Milburn was manager. It's great how Ipswich and Newcastle have this special connection through Bobby Robson but nobody ever seems to bring up the Jackie Milburn connection, no celebratory merchandise that I have seen!

In my case they were drawing 4-4 with Hawkedon, the match being played on Depden Green due to Hawkedon's undersoil heating failing.

A respectable 3rd in Division Two. One point less than both teams above. Norwich languishing in 9th.

The denouement - finished the season as champions and promoted back to the top flight!
