Cambridge have launched a new kit (70s throwback) and new badge for next season. I think the video is superb. It's shot around Cambridge and features lots of ex players. (Apologies that our friend Wes from the north features). There's a lovely reference to Tom Youngs who very recently died. Regardless on your thoughts on the club, I find it hard not to be impressed by this. I think we'd love it if we'd done something like this.

Yeah, the new badge is a bit of an acquired taste, but at least it's a break from the identikit 'logo with a ring around it, with the name in the ring' design that so many clubs are going with these days.
I like the new badge - lettering style feels like a nod to some of the big sides in Argentina. River Plate, San Lorenzo and a few others have their initials in a similar style at the centre of their badges.

I lived near the Abbey between 95 - 00, so would often go and watch them if Town weren't at home during that time. I rarely go now but do look out for their results.

I'm not familiar with all their players, but did recognise Paul Wanless, Andy Duncan and Steve Fallon, who later managed Histon to their win over Leeds in the cup.

The kit is OK although the white trim on the collar is unnecessary and looks a bit 'busy'. Black would've been nicer.
The sponsor obviously has to be prominent but there's something about that I don't like too, it might be the font.
Otherwise not a bad effort, and the badge is definitely an improvement on the laughably dated one they had previously with the CU on top of the football. The old one just reminds me of local football coverage, its the only time I would ever see it. I see Stewart White when I see that.

That's interesting. I don't know a huge amount about Oxford, I've been a few times mostly for a day / night on the beers with friends as I've got mates in the midlands and south west and its a decent mid point for us all. Last time we went punting and I was so p1ssed I was in bed by about 11pm.

Yes, I lived up the Cowley Road for a year and the motto was "on a /Saturday night, don;t be on the last bus to Blackbird Leys". The Cowley car factory now employs 4,000 or so; some of the site has been turned into a business park. Cambridge still has a slightly smaller population than Oxford but, as you say, it never had much manufacturing. However, it's been a boom town & I'm told this has boosted property prices in towns as far away as Thetford.

Plymouth is the one that befuddles me - I find it astonishing that they've never been in the top flight - and you'd think it would be ripe for investment.
The catchment area for a start off - with the demise of Torquay and Yeovil, Exeter is the only league team between Plymouth and Bristol - that's about 120 miles - and then there's Cornwall (although with Truro now in the National League, that could change by this time next year).
Home Park capacity is 17,500, which is about the same as Brentford, and bigger than Bournemouth, but a quick look on Google Earth shows plenty of space for expansion - 25-30k would probably be about right, plus their record attendance is bigger than ours to be fair.

It's rugby country though isn't it? I think that would have an impact on a football tradition which takes time to build - see also MK (for different reasons).
