Oh delicious Omari. on 22:00 - Jun 18 with 2593 views | Parky | Came alive in that last half an hour, was the best player on the pitch. His right foot seems to have massively improved, cutting in from the left on it, a few dangerous crosses on it too. I really really hope we can keep him next season.
Oh delicious Omari. on 22:00 - Jun 18 with 2591 views | LankHenners | Another 'too good for the Championship' performance. Hopefully the release cause is just a bit too steep for the sort of clubs that would be interested.

If Chelsea hadn’t just sold him to us, I think they’d agree. They might still. Very much in the market for a winger.

Isn’t it just £35m. That’s a bargain in todays market and plenty of Prem clubs will want him. He’s gone.

Oh delicious Omari. on 07:58 - Jun 19 with 1691 views | RIPbobby | In my opinion omari second half last night is him at his best. He is a dribbler, he unlocks defences, he does the hard bit before leaving it on a plate for someone else to score. Our manager kept starting him in behind LD last season with not so much effect. Although let's be fair that might work at championship level? But I do love a good dribbler- a dying breed.

Not sure there's much maxing out to do if the release clause is true. Someone either stumps up £35m in which case we can't do a lot about it, or they don't and I would think we'll hold firm and keep him. I can't imagine we would voluntarily accept an offer lower than that given his obvious potential and premier league readiness. I suppose the challenge we have is if we want to 'trade' 1 more big departure, do we let someone like O'Shea go now, only for someone to come in for Omari late in the window and our hands be tied on it? I can see that big departure happening very late in the window for that reason.

We are trying to sort out a new deal with O'Shea which doesn't sound like it's a million miles away from being done Think we'll only sell players for release clauses, Omari the biggest worry though

That would be good if we can tie O'Shea down, he's every bit a premier league defender and one we should be handing the arm band to in the not too distant future. O'Shea, Greaves, Davis, Omari, Philogene, Hirst, J.Clarke, Szmodics. To my mind they're the 8 core players in this squad. Top heavy, and clearly some recruitment to do through the spine and around them, not least CM, but retaining as many of those 8 + McKenna is the best business we could do this summer.

£35m really isn't an inconsequential sum though. In terms of guaranteed fee excluding add-ons, it would be a record signing for Bournemouth, Brentford, Palace, Fulham and a joint record signing for Forest. They are the sort of clubs you would imagine being interested.

We will either get £35m in one lump (which very rarely happens these days), or we will demand more money £40-£45m for a club to stage the payments like a normal transfer. Arsenal have recently paid £56m for Zubimendi at Sociedad, even though he had a release clause of £51m, just so they can stagger the payments over a number of years. It's quite the common theme these days.

Agreed. No doubt the money in the Premier League is absolutely outrageous, but lets be real £35m for a player with 1 relegation season under his belt and 3 goals and 2 premier league assists is still a very 'considered' purchase. There might well be a market for him at that price (West Ham or Everton maybe), but it won't be a massive one.

Can definitely see him going to Palace to replace Eze unfortunately.

Fair point I guess there's some maximisation we could achieve if a club meets his release clause, based on favourable payment terms. In the round I can't imagine it would be particularly material though, and there's a cost of capital to consider. There's a reason why clubs want favourable payment terms, and while cash might not be our primary motivation its probably still important to our owners. I still think it comes down to us holding firm at anything less than his release clause, and having fairly little influence if a club activates it.

Just goes to show how hard it is to make an impact in a relegated team in the PL nowadays as well. Two months ago Town fans were writing Omari off, now he shows just how good he is surrounded by peers playing for much more established PL sides.

O'shea is the one we need to keep, Joe has just said were renegotiating with him great news, So if say two clubs meet the release clause is it set at the 35m or can there be a bidding war,

See also Jaden Philogene. Last I saw him play for the U21s he was looking very handy.
