To be honest, I like Delap and wish him well but I think he will get a lot of yellow cards just as he did this season. It is possible Maresca will get him to be less physical but I don't think he will because it is a part of what makes him a good player. I think he will get a good number of goals too (again like he did this season). But I wouldn't be surprised for the yellow cards to exceed the goals.
I also expect both tallies to exceed Nicholas Jackson's. | |

Delap will be a top player at Chelsea. He has players around him like Palmer who are on a different level to the players at Town.
Once they get an understanding of how to use his strengths with the perfect pass, they will be delivering 10+ of those per game. You only have to look at the number of chances they create for Jackson (and he misses).
Towards the end of the season nobody in the Town team was delivering a pass of any quality regularly. This meant he was constantly feeding on scraps, which is why he got frustrated.

Yes, i saw that, and laughed too.
Its not intended as a slur against Delap. He is aggressive in his game and that is unlikely to change, and tbh it shouldn't because the game has gone so bloody soft! But given the officials will card players fir the slightest thing these days, I'd say there's every chance he'll be given a fair number. Last season his yellow cards vs goals was al.ist equal. Defenders will be very aware of his tendencies and will without foubt target that. Well see. I'm looking forward to see how he gets on with better players around him, but he does have a lot to refine, hes basically a raw diamond atm. | |
