Given we have lost Delap and likely Hutchinson assuming we go back up how are we going to be stronger than last season where we were miles off where we needed to be to stay up with our two best players gone?

On another note so annoying Wolves and Brentford sold all their best players this season not last, I feel this gives one of the promoted three a better chance than we had.

We will still have Greaves, O'Shea, Szmodics etc. If we go back up we will invest again. It might take 3-4 relegations and promotions to get established. This is a big season.

Truly impaired.

Szmodics largely injured so hard to judge but will Greaves and O'Shea realistically get that much better?

Agree on this season, this league won't be easy as we know.

I think a lot boils down to one of the established sides having a really poor season to stand any chance of staying up.

We'll have this summer transfer window to spend the money recouped from those two, plus more, and then if/when we go up we get another £140 million. In the meantime time we develop Philogene, Clarke, o Shea Greaves, Ogbene, as well as all the others.

Szmodics had some truly awful games last season. Did not look prem quality. O'Shea and Greaves part of a defence that shipped goals and neither looked prem quality. We have just lost our only prem league quality defender. Our only premier league quality striker and are more than likely going to lose our only other premier league quality player. We basically over the course of the next three transfer windows have to replace our entire team.

We went into last Summer without Delap and Hutchinson too. But the rest of our squad now is significantly stronger than the one we had 12-13 months ago.

The squad yes but in terms of a first XI I am not convinced, hopefully new signings will change that.

To be fair, Brentford lost Toney last summer, and he would have been considered their best striker at the time.

Wolves lost Neto and Kilman last summer, certainly 2 of their best players.

No excuses.

You know last season when we spent £120m….

Including the 2 players listed.

Well we would do that again.

Thats how we got players last time.

Except this time we would need (slightly) fewer of them.

If we replaced our whole team then at least the squad would be massively stronger than. It was this time round. Part of the problem this time was a complete lack of capable replacements, even putting aside our lack of absolute first team quality.
So getting in another 10 next summer and having Philogene Clarke Ogbene Greaves Davis Johnson Hirst Szmodic etc etc as bench warmers after another promotion winning season can only do us good, surely?

There really is no point trying to analyse how ready we will be for the kick off of the 26/27 season.

We don't even know our squad for the 25/26 season yet!!

I think we should probably worry about this season before we start worrying about next season.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Several times now you've posted Omari is either off or almost certainly off... it's almost like you're willing it to happen.

Here's a thought - maybe he won't leave. Maybe quit worrying about it until it actually happens. And certainly there's no point at this stage worrying about how we might cope if we get back up to the Prem.

Cross bridges when you come to them.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I really enjoy watching Omari and I love his journey..

We don't know if we'll go back up, with or without him. Two years ago, we'd never heard of him and things worked out very well.

I hope he stays but it's not worth doing hypotheticals, especially with so many unknowns

I would start with stop assuming that we are losing Hutchinson and we are going back up.

Prefer to focus on what we know and have, and focus on the current season ahead.

Most important action is to keep the manager, consistency is key right now. We don't want a squad and management rebuild all at the same time.

Players will come and go, as always. It's just business for those involved.
