Loving life. 2 lots of content, 2 lots of Broady happy as larry.

I just can’t get enough - optimistically hoping that’s a good sign of what’s to come. Great to see him enjoying being around the place.

Maybe I'm the only one to see it, but based on last season, surely he is down the pecking order (?), and if we go back up, I'm not convinced the club rate him as highly as some here. I don't think we're going to offer him a bumper contract.

Personally I think if the right club comes in with a decent offer, he'll be gone, especially if its near Wales. Unless we're happy to have him this season and then let him go next for free.

A dying breed kind of player. Not many left with his levels of skill. I would be keen to offer a new contract. Got us out of many holes in our last promotion year and to some extent last season too. Class

He has quality on the ball that very few at this level do, minimal back lift and pin point accurate shooting too.

He’s very poor without the ball though, not strong enough on it either, and I guess that’s why he’s still at this level, he can be a serious liability defensively.

Would 100% keep him personally in the championship, he’s a match winner at this level.

Personally I'd love to see Broady play the Sarmiento role this season. Coming on with 20mins to go against tired legs and ripping the opposite defence apart.

However, I dont think that fits with what he wants...

Absolutely … worth the entrance fee alone … just add Grealish’s calves and harness’ eyes and we have Frankenstein’s footballer.

Perhaps we need to add Damian Delaney's forearms, too.

Such a good player. We've had newer and shinier arrivals since, but arguably none have been as good as him. Massively underrated, now in the prime years of his career, knows the club and knows the league. We would be mad to let him go.

I totally agree with this sentiment - my only reservation is that last time out in the Championship, he couldn't handle/was never trusted to play both the midweek and weekend game, he'd always be rested for one of them.

I appreciate we have ample support in the role he plays and he's hardly Teddy Bishop, but it does niggle at me that a player in his prime years can't handle two games in a week.

They'll definately be room for him in the 25.
If he goes, i think it'll be his decision, not the clubs. Unfortunately, it's going to be tough battle with Clarke, Philogene, Hutchinson, Szmodics and Chaplin all competing for similiar positions.
Can play outwide, as a 10 and as a shadow striker. He offers so much to squad.

I'll be astounded beyond words if we see much of Chappers this season.

From what we have seen on the grass, which is ultimately the only thing that matters, Broadh remains at the top end of the list for that left sided role - between him and Szmodics for me.

Would be absolutely mad to let him leave, others ahead of him for me that I would want to see depart before Broadhead.

Real quality player.

Based on what we have seen, who and how is anyone we currently have ahead of Broadhead?

Szmodics looks another option at that level, who can also operate in the 10.

Collection of:
RM: Ogbene, Burns
CAM: Chaplin, +1
LM: Broadhead, Szmodics

J.Clarke & J.Philogene fringe options if required, or cannot move them on.

"J.Clarke & J.Philogene fringe options if required, or cannot move them on."

That is quite the take.

Whilst we might not have seen it in the PL, we know they are absolutely top quality at this level and will hopefully be good enough for the PL in the future.

Broadhead really showed very little last season. Yes, he had limited minutes, but when he was on he only showed a few moments of what we’d seen in previous seasons. For much of the time he was off the pace, and slow to react.

Jack Clarke on the other hand started to show some real guile as the season went on, and he finally got some decent minutes. Philogene has had very limited time to show what he can bring, but if his U21 performances are anything to go by, he’ll be a great addition.

It’s nostalgia to see Broadhead as a regular starter for us next season, imo.

I’m a huge Jack Clarke fan, but even I’d say Broadhead made much better use of his (limited) minutes, pro rata.

Clarke had so many more chances, yet only really started to look settled towards the end of the season, which was only noteworthy given the low bar his previous performances had set.

Personally I love him but it is a concern about his back to back match ability. What were the rumours / murmurs from last summer as some of the family kicked off or something didn’t they, I managed to miss it all?

I think you might be thinking of Wes Burns Dad putting a poster on here in his place for constantly talking absolute drivel about his boy.

Is it also worth a small mention of the fact Jack Clarke scored some good goals at Sunderland. But they were promoted when he left....
Clarke needs to fight his way into the side past Broadhead again.

Broadhead and Szmodics are absolutely top quality in the Championship?

Based on what we have seen for ITFC, why would J.Philogene & J.Clarke be ahead in the pecking order?

To have two assets with resale value, sitting 3/4 in the pecking order, if the option arose to move them on, then I think we absolutely should.

I think that’s underestimated by many - Broadhead is an absolute natural in the left 10 role, where Clarke has (understandably) spent the last 12 months trying to learn it from scratch, against a lot of his instincts.

I only reference your last line which I think is a very hot take. I never mentioned Broadhead and Szmodics but I think both are very good.

Why would you only look at evidence at ITFC to make your decisions. We are in the Champ now so why would you not consider evidence at that level? At this level Philogene and Clarke have proven themselves to be two of the very best players.

I really don't think they are "fringe players" or behind Broady and Szmodics in the pecking order. I would actually expect them to be the starters with Broady (if here) and Szmodics coming on. Szmodics might have more of a chance of starting though.

I certainly don't think they are 3rd or 4th choices.

Guess we will see when the season starts though!

Edit: Adding stats for Philogene and Clarke in the Champ in 23/24 season both playing in teams weaker than Town were.

Philogene: 32 matches, 12 goals, 6 assists
Clarke: 40 matches, 15 goals, 4 assists

That's deeply unfair, correlation doesn't imply causation.

There are so many factors that change between season trying to say one player was a reason for not getting promoting is pretty poor reasoning.
