Scouting Network 09:03 - Jul 12 with 2087 views | Metal_Hacker | For a good few years no we’ve fallen short in the foreign markets due to lack of a perceived scouting network but things seem to be changing and changing rapidly Do we think this is possibly due to the greater exposure the club now has or maybe because over the course of time we have reached out and put things in place across Europe and Americas in terms of recruitment …..or perhaps both ? It only crossed my mind because we’ve seemingly gone full circle compared to our recruitment plan last season …..and a good thing I hasten to add ! Thoughts ?

If we are looking at players in Latin America that might suggest so, given it’s one of their favourite hunting grounds. [Post edited 12 Jul 9:18]

Scouting Network on 09:22 - Jul 12 with 1861 views | MattinLondon | Combination of factors - network has been increased but obviously this will take time. Plus, the club now has a great profile. Wouldn’t be surprised if agents inform the club that their clients might well be interested in a move.

Unless Brighton turned access back on when it looked certain that we were doomed then I'm not sure it's quite that simple. Would have thought we had been actively looking for a lot longer than that. We have started to develop our own data capability so it might be more a mix of the list of players we had last summer before we lost access to Brighton's data along with working on our own analysis.

Scouting Network on 09:31 - Jul 12 with 1753 views | BloomBlue | Combination of things I would say. The media coverage we had with the PL promotion. The owners investing in a scouting network. Agents keen to sell a player to Town, before Phil can dismiss it on TWTD. Being out of the PL allows us to be Brighton's feeder club again with their scouting network.

Either way it’s a positive and who knows who we could , for a change , unearth. There’s bound to be some unfound prolific player out there we stumble across and have a couple of good seasons out of and then sell on for £50m plus ala Brighton Exciting times even more so ahead Trust in the process as we keep being told

Scouting Network on 09:42 - Jul 12 with 1655 views | WubbleU | Things have moved fast at the club, you don't really need a global scouting team in League 1. It was clearly an area where we weren't ready for the Premier League and that is now being addressed. Having said that, the first generation of Gamechanger scouts have not been a success. Most of the players who will go down as legends, Burns, Chaplin, Burgess, Morsy, Broadhead, they were all recruited before the current team were in place. The old team did everything up to summer 2022 when the Gamechanger revolution reached that area. As others have said there really were some good people behind the scenes pre-Ashton & co. The revolution had to happen but some good'uns were flushed out too. Ashton is very much a (benign) dictator and if your face doesn't fit you have no future in the club. Not sure his track record in people appointments is great, apart from Kieron of course! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

For anyone who didn’t know… Ipswich Town may be able to leverage Brighton & Hove Albion's player recruitment system, specifically their use of Jamestown Analytics, following Ipswich's promotion to the Premier League. Brighton's system, developed by owner Tony Bloom, utilizes data to identify potential signings and has been a key factor in their success. While Ipswich previously used Jamestown Analytics when they were in the Championship, a new arrangement is needed now that they are Premier League rivals. Here's a more detailed breakdown… Brighton's Data-Driven Approach: Brighton has gained a reputation for successful player recruitment, largely attributed to their use of data analysis through Jamestown Analytics. Jamestown Analytics: This data firm, an offshoot of Starlizard (a betting and data company), is closely tied to Brighton's owner Tony Bloom. Ipswich's Previous Use: Ipswich previously utilized Jamestown Analytics during their time in the Championship. Premier League Rivalry: As Ipswich has been promoted to the Premier League, the previous arrangement with Jamestown Analytics has likely ended due to exclusivity agreements. Potential New Arrangement: With Brighton and Ipswich now in the same league, a new agreement might be possible, allowing Ipswich to potentially benefit from Brighton's data-driven recruitment methods. McKenna's Perspective: Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna has stated that the club is developing its own data system for recruitment and acknowledges the importance of data in player acquisition. 25/26: Now that Ipswich Town have returned to The Championship, full use of Jamestown Analytics may have been relicensed to work alongside Ipswich’s own new database.

Kipré is obviously one who has played in England before, so only Matusiwa which is a dip in the toe of a foreign market.

I'm curious. Established in what sense? Connections and links to agents and agency companies? Most clubs outsource scouting and data analytics, from first team level, all the way to the U18's, with a small number of staff inside the club doing the deeper dive and assessing the 'strategic fit' of shortlisted players. Gone are the days where a scout physically watches a player. I believe that only exists locally at a pre U14,15 level. Surely it's more of a change in mindset, risk tollerance and percieved value for money vs being established? [Post edited 12 Jul 11:08]

Established in terms of knowing the market, having contacts. Data only tells you so much, people on the ground and networking is still required.

Yep, that makes sense. A lot of the Premiership club's have ex players or players with some kind of a link to English football working on an ad-hoc basis and/or on a part time consultancy basis. Amazingly, Drissa Diallo did a lot of work for Spurs and Manchester a few years ago when scouting the French market. Might explain some of the business they did if it's anything like his defending ! I remember he was working for an agent. Setting up those sorts of links, like we had with Romeo Zondervan in the Netherlands back in the day.
Scouting Network on 11:29 - Jul 12 with 1142 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | What’s changed quite so rapidly? Doesn’t sound like there is a tone in this Mexican lads rumor unfortunately. We could have been watching the Charlotte striker last Sunday and there’s been some random link generated from that somehow. Let’s see who we actually sign. Kipre spent most of his career in England and played for WBA. Matusiwa excites me more but I very much doubt we’ve got a significant global network in place right now, we need to move closer to that though.

Hmm, so is that an official ‘there’s nothing in it’ regarding this Mexican fella? Ah - ignore. I see you’ve already ruined their fun. Nice to dream though 🤣 [Post edited 12 Jul 13:04]

Prob plays a role but not sure thats the only reason we used it in 23/24 and we would of known we couldnt use it in the PL so im sure we would have picked a few out then in case we went up but we didnt, id argue its a change in policy along with brightr path having more say.
