A 40 year old full back
And a 36 year old keeper.

Changing our strategy from what we’ve seen under McKenna. Surely these are signed looking to put them into coaching roles like Sone Aluko?

A 40 year old as fit as guys half his age and almost untouchable in the experience department. It’s a 12 month deal and a very good signing.

Its also the Richard Keogh effect. When we signed him, the club said that their analysis indicated that promoted clubs have a very experienced head in the line up with Sam Morsy on his way out, this is that signing again.

He'll he invaluable on and off the pitch for a promotion push, as was Keogh.

Is it quite regular for clubs to have 3 over 21 goalkeepers registered?

To me it makes more sense to have 2 over 21 and one under 21 as the back up. Least it's a squad place spare that way.

a niche perspective

This is a fantastic signing (Young I mean). He is very experienced PL player and will be a real help to the lads. With Morsy and Mass leaving he is just what we need plus he may be 40 but is still a top player and a sh*thouser at times too. Can see him having a blast against the scum

Even if we signed a 50 year old right winger , there would be some supporters putting the spin of its all part of some non - existent plan

In short, yes. Although Young will be able to play a reasonable chunk of games. The keeper is a no-brainer. He’ll never play and so it’s all about his experience, work ethic and character around the place. Both are fine, but the reported wage for Young would be an issue for me if it’s true. You could do an awful lot with that money for a decent Championship striker and CM.

Who is this decent championship striker we hear so much about?

What do you expect, there are a number of happy clapping delusional “fans” here who brook no criticism of the club, players or management come hell or high water. For them no matter how low we sink there’s always something worse to compare to. Even resorting to ad hominem. They’d probable feel right at home in North Korea or Communist China.

Ironic!

'resorting to ad hominem'

'happy clapping delusional “fans”'

'probable feel right at home in North Korea or Communist China'

As you have just very ably shown, there are also a number of fans on here that criticise anything the club does, and resort ad hominem comments.

I've seen no one in this thread say it's all part of some great plan, just that Young brings a lot of experience and skill to the team. Which he does.

Having stood through many a draw under MM on a wet cold night, there’s always a positive.

P.S when is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer turning up ?
