Is is grammatically correct. Even if we do tend to talk of the club as a plural.

Ipswich Town is a club in the EFL Championship. The club is delighted to make announcements. As a management group, they are delighted with the new signing but the club as a whole is delighted.

Over past seasons their x announces etc were quite unique. Bit of fun and I'd say interesting.

This summer it's been pretty naff tbh.


More importantly tho. Brilliant signing.

Ex man utd. Cup and league winner, inter Milan. Aston villa and Everton fullback with over 400 appearences in the prem inc 30 odd appearances last season.

What a signing.

Only so much you can do, it’s a lot harder when it’s not a surprise. Think the announcements have been quite sleek, same set up for each on etc.

I agree that's how we talk but technically the club is owned by an American pension fund and is an English club.

I hate to break it to you, but you are not actually part of the club. As fans we feel we are but the best you could hope for is that they are owned by Americans and they are an English club.

Would you say Liverpool is an English club or that Liverpool are? Technically, the former is grammatically correct. I can hear either and think it sounds fine.

Liverpool are an English club, it's British English. "Liverpool is winning 1-0" no-one says that unless they are American.
