Will watch this with interest, as I think like Reform they will get a disproportionate amount of media attention.
However, I do wonder if MPs who defect should be made to hold an election immediately. If you are voted in as an MP for one party, then seems undemocratic to me to pivot to another party without a mandate. |  |

Different class/ideological coalition from the Greens. Polanski might win and that might ease a lot of socialists’ worries about Green nimbyism/parochialism (which is arguably a bit outdated anyway).
If this new party and the Greens had a non-compete agreement they’d probably get a combined 30% of the vote. |
it'll be nothing like 30% and essentially they're competing for the same group now - people who want to make a protest vote to the left of labour and aren't fussed about getting someone elected. they'll still be competing with gorgeous george's lot and what ever the cp now call themselves. they'll also get 'the muslim vote' people. in most constituencies they'll be marginal. |  |

It's certainly interesting how many mailing list sign ups they have but can't see myself going to vote for them. Corbyn is a terrible leader, and there's nothing to suggest(at this time) there will be any good leadership in it. The fact they will even have to vote on the name probably tells you what you need to know. Couple that with his stance on Ukraine and I can't be getting behind it. I'd be surprised if they pick up any large quantities of votes at all. |  |

I don’t think I’ll be touching them with a barge pole Mullers. Corbyn and Farage are two cheeks of the same arse. Both speak a populist language, both are anti-international organisations, anti any meaningful partnerships with neighbouring states. It’s a small and very interconnected world. We have to be ‘globalists’ and we have to have respected international orgs somehow trying to play peacemaker. Farage and Corbyn come at it from different ideological viewpoints, but would deliver the same result. They’d cut us off from the world, reduce opportunities and make us more isolated and poorer. |
