You're right it definitely scans with the emphasis on the 2nd syllable.
ipsWich away a-ha-a-ha etc.
Either way I'm not convinced by these rip off chants at the best of times, I'd rather something more original. While we're on the subject of chants (and admittedly not hugely original) but we really need to sing 'Because you're George Hirst' more this season. I can't think of a player in world football whose name fits the word gorgeous as well as George Hirst.

I love hearing a football crowd just sing normal song lyrics tbh, that can be pretty impressive. Hibs do Sunshine on Leith for example, obviously its about Leith / Edinburgh so makes sense for them but they don't change the words to make it relate to the football club.
Recently saw a clip of the Liverpool Kop from '64 singing Beatles and its class. No need to shoe horn players names into it. Problem we've got is it would have to be an Ed Sheeran song.
