That was Burns. I forget who it was against, but the defender bundled Omari over, then tried to drag him up by the collar. Burns sprinted over and sent the defender flying backwards.
Reminded me a bit when I was 16/17 and played up front for my local side. I narrowly beat the opposition goalie to a long ball forward, but he carried through with his clearance and, to use a phrase from Craig Forrest, I "helecoptered" to the ground. After screaming like a baby and gingerly getting to my feet whilst re-arranging my wedding tackle, I glanced over to see the goalie lying spark-out on the ground. What I saw, and I was pretty much in line with it, was Al-Hamadi and an Aberdeen player doing the standard pushing each other around on the goal line stuff before the corner was taken. Whether it was the difference in etiquette between how you go about it in Scotland and England or whether there was sweet nothings being whispered in each others ears I don't know, you would have had to have been in the Don's support behind the goal to see that. As Phil's report stated, it was surprisingly competitive for a friendly right from the off, much higher standard than I expected. |  |
