Multiple alliterative names in the same team 22:32 - Jul 28 with 1471 viewsRIPbobby

So far we occasionally have Connor Chaplin and Sam Szmodics in the same team. There is potential to have Hayden Hackney and that would put 3 in the team. That must surely be a record for alliterative names in one team.

Lol.

These three all played for Town 1969-70:

Mick McNeil
Michael Dennis Mills MBE
Steve Stacey

Someone with a better memory than me will have to tell you whether they all got on the pitch in the same match.

And what about the late 2010's?

And of course our greatest ever captain was Mick Mills. I can't think of anyone else he played with who'd fit the criteria though. Mick McNeil maybe, but before my time?

Given their footballing knowledge and availability I'd sooner have Robert Robson than McCarthy.

Phil Parkes?

Edit: just seen Parkes was here 90-91. Didn't realise it was that late.

Yes he was!

He and Bobby Bell (Meadowlark mentioned him) both left at the end of the 1970-71 season didn't they?

Wiki says he was sold to Hull in March '71, so yes, you're right.

Ivar Ingimarsson played for Ipswich and represented Iceland. I only realised this when asked a football question at work:

Who is the only PL player to have an alliterative name whose initials matched the club he played for and the country he played for?

It’s not Ingimarsson as he played for us at Championship level. Who is it?

Full kudos if you get it without looking it up.

Was Andrey Arshavin (spelling?) from Austria? (Played for Arsenal, obviously)

EDIT: No, he was Russian. Will keep thinking.

EDIT again: It's not Carlo Cudicini at Chelsea...

Very good guesses, but no cigar.

For the record I didn’t get the answer

I thought maybe it was a gotcha and Scott Sinclair (Swansea) had changed allegiance to Scotland, but I think I was getting confused because he went to Celtic for a bit.

Good puzzle!

These are great guesses, I think you must’ve named every matching alliterative PL player and club without getting the right answer!

He’s earlier than any of your guesses so far, and more obscure…
