Broadhead bid 19:25 - Jul 29 with 9613 views | floridaboy | Wrexham have offered £7 million for Broadhead according to reports from the Wrexham papers. Can see it happening especially as his game time seems limited! Would £7 million be enough to tempt the club to sell?

Broadhead bid on 22:42 - Jul 29 by Churchman | I would keep him if he’s happy to stay. He’s an excellent player, especially at Championship level. Good feet, skilful, knows where the goal is and finds positions to hurt the opposition. However, I don’t think he’s strong enough for the Premier League from what I saw last year, so if the club is serious about building for that level, I can see him going if the fee is right. |
Agree. I'm not sure any of our squad are ready for the Prem if that's the genuine aspiration. The quality gulf is increasingly impossible to bridge.

Broadhead bid on 22:51 - Jul 29 with 911 views | itfcsuth | Our best operator from the left, one of the few who looked comfortable at PL level, in the prime of his career. Would be absolute madness to sell him, get a new deal on table for him.

What if he doesn’t want to sign a new contract though? Would then make sense to sell him, especially with McKenna clearly preferring Philogene and probably even Clarke over him.

Could be truth in that, but the only concrete truth is we don’t know the answer to that. Wouldn’t be a huge surprise given after doing so much to contribute to us reaching the PL, he was somewhat cast aside for large parts and replaced by players who simply didn’t look on Broady’s level. Understandable if he feels slightly aggrieved.

Same paper now saying it's 7.5m and seems to be progressing. SB

Broadhead bid on 21:03 - Jul 29 by Herbivore | £7m feels very punchy when you consider he's only got a year left on his contract. I love him, great player to watch on his day, but as a result of injury proneness and streaky form, those days haven't always come often. We've got Clarke and Philogene likely ahead of him in the pecking order, we can basically cover the Matusiwa fee with this sale. Sad as I'll be to see him go, it's a no brainer. |
It’s not very punchy, he scored 1 less goal than Jack Clarke in his Championship campaign the same year, after which we spent 15M on him. I’m not saying goals equates exact player value but you get the point. I’d have rather extended him than take 3 million or something daft like that, just because he’s got a year left. I’m ok with 7-8 mil as I said yesterday sounds like that’s right where it’s going to be but even then we are probably doing it somewhat begrudgingly. Top player at this level but he’s back in the pecking order now. Criminally underrated by some, which is weird for a forum that’s always glass half full. Opinions I guess! [Post edited 30 Jul 1:01]

Broadhead bid on 06:25 - Jul 30 with 385 views | Blue_Heath | If Omari is definitely staying then for £7.5m upwards I say yes we have plenty of cover and is quite injury prone. Yes a great player on his day but also has spells where the game just passes him by. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I think he is not willing to sign another contract we have to sell him. But we do need game changers to come off the bench, we need to have leeds type quality up top, thats The Best way of getting out this league. We got a lot of games to play and we will get injurys

This is pretty much where I'm at with it, if we get to keep Omari then I'm all aboard. Broadhead is fantastic when fit and in form, but he's body lets him down too often. As you state, his form is spotty too, which is to be expected when you're in and out of the team as much as he has been. I don't like saying it, as I've enjoyed his time with us and it's another one of the double promotion squad going, but it feels like the right move for all involved to me.

He's older than Clarke, has only a year left on his contract, and hadn't had the consistent performances at this level that Clarke had managed. Clarke was one of the standouts for 2 seasons in a row in the second tier. It's not a like for like comparison, and that's before taking account of Broadhead often missing decent chunks of the season with injury. Definitely think £7.5m as is being reported is absolutely top whack for him.

Here are the stats for that season: Philogene: 32 matches, 12 goals, 6 assists Clarke: 40 matches, 15 goals, 4 assists Broadhead: 38 matches, 13 goals, 4 assists Philogene's look excellent given the minutes and then Broadhead and Clarke are similar with Clarke scoring a few more but playing for a worse team. I don't think Broady is underrated, it's just as you say, he's down the pecking order now and with no new contract signed this is a very good fee. SB

Also worth pointing out that Philogene stats really dropped off in the second half of the season with he had to switch sides for Carvalho. Previous to that he had incredibly good form.
