Given how difficult a start we’ve been handed and the importance of this season, I don’t fancy starting the season feeling we’re half cocked, given the loss of Morsy, Jens, Phillips and Mas and only bringing in one.

if we'd have wanted any old midfielder, we'd have got them, but we're aiming high with hackney and cajuste. if it takes until 31st august to get them(or the plan bs), it's worth it.
the worst case scenario is that we go into the start of the season with matusiwa and taylor. bearing in mind that our perceived first choice pairing 2 years ago was morsy and (a far less experienced) taylor and we ended up getting 90+points, i'm fairly calm! |  |

Thing is.. the current squad has enough about it to get through August. We're looking to build that squad to have a great season and then a better prem season.

If the injury gods are kind this month then I'm optimistic we're in a good place to ride out August.
An energetic 20' from Ali with the potency we boast behind him, that doesn't test my blood pressure.
Taylor & Matusiwa is a respectable pairing. Hopefully at least one is match fit for 90', so we may only concede notable ground in this major area of the park towards the end of games (even better if one of the academy duo has taken a monster stride forward 🤞). All the positions encircling them are packed with strength and depth thankfully.
It's a precarious place to find oneself though no doubt! Two quick wickets next week would be lovely. | | | |

I don’t think all this ‘Billy Bigboots linked’ stuff filling the media helps.
Linked by who? Made up by people who get paid making stuff up? Agents spreading rumours about their players to bump prices up for their percentage? It’s all rubbish.
It doesn’t really help that the club doesn’t really communicate what it’s trying to do these days and never did over transfers anyway so people naturally fill in the gaps. It could be that the club is trying to flog off as much as it can to sell it, so not looking to bring players in. Project: in the bin.
Maybe it is trying to do deals but being priced out. It could be that players just don’t want to come here or that our recruitment team is plain poor. Who knows.
More likely is that finding and bringing in higher level players is just harder than when you are further down the food chain, especially when there are so many clubs with a lot of money these days.
Where do I think we are? Short in key areas but tolerably ok for the moment.
Morsy? If he wanted to move on, he was always going to do so at his pace. We could have done with him for another season, but in his position and age, if you are him why not cash in? I think Cajuste, unlike most, is a show pony player. Looks good delivers little. Fragile too.
Phillips? The most disastrous loan signing I can remember, sadly. Less than useless because he cost us so much in wages and did zilch for it. Luongo? Fantastic player and I hope we’ve not tried to keep him because he wanted to go and we’ve got something better lined up.
What will be will be. Players, owners, managers come and go and there’s no loyalty whatsoever. Enough £££ and any if not all would be off without so much as a wave goodbye. The only constant is the core supporters. |  | | |
