Does the interest in Akpom mean we won't be signing Azon or are we trying for both? Ali has impressed in pre-season and should be good enough to be third choice.

Can't imagine his salary is that high at Como so it wouldn't take much to offer something more succulent.
Valencia are also interested in Borja Iglesias from Betis, experienced but bearded, and probably past his best at 32. The other one mentioned is Larin from Mallorca at only 30 years old. Both decent players but very short-termist and I can't imagine they'd be cheaper than Azón.

I'd say from all the reports there's only a very outside chance of us signing him.
I've never been more sure of anything in my life, I can already hear the fans singing it. Really hope we get him now, and if he can play football, it'll be a bonus

Akpom in reverse, he doesn't want us so hopefully we have moved on.
I don't think there's anything to move on from. We apparently made an offer that was acceptable to Como so that will still be on the table. In the meantime it looks like Akpom is coming so it's clear we're capable of working on more than one deal / player at a time.
Valencia is clearly his first choice but not sure that's the same as he doesn't want to come here.
Valencia are scrabbling around trying to find a cheaper option and / or coming up with the cash. I think they'll end up getting the deal done by improving their offer to Como.
