Davis obviously starts when fit. Young can cover either flank. Greaves did a job there at the back end of last season, allowing Kipre to play in the middle. Boniface made the match day squad as well last season |  |

That is spreading ourselves far too thin. You would want 2 players for each position. Young and Johnson should be battling each other for the right side and we need someone to cover for Davis.
Greaves was an option last season and did well enough defensively. That was fine when in the Premier League with our backs against the wall. But he is extremely limited going forward. |  |

H. Clarke has a serious injury and isn't likely to be going anyway soon. Whether he gets registered or not might be a different matter. | |

Cam Humphreys?
Good age (albeit not qualifying as an U21 for squad size purposes), just come off a good season on loan, knows the club and system inside out, can score goals. Covers some of the midfield positions, also. |  |

I would say yes. It’s a specialist position for us and the season is too important to take chances that a right footer can to the job or that Cam will suddenly gain the strength to defend and attack against championship power players down that right side. | |

Boniface seems to have his own injury issue and hasn't featured for the U21s in their preseason so far. It's a real shame for him as you feel that if he'd done preseason with the first team he'd now have a good shot at a regular squad/cup place. | |

A half season or pay as you play contract for Brandon Williams would be my vote. If, and its a big if, he has grown up and finally realised that he needs to knuckle down if he wants to be a pro footballer, he could be the bargain of the decade. Hopefully McKenna is still in touch with him. |  |

We definitely need someone in with Townsend out for the season and Clarke also out for a long spell. We can't be tackling a Championship season with only Johnson, Young, and Davis at full back. Young is reliable but he's 40, Davis pushes himself and will get the odd knock, Johnson has yet to play a whole season as a regular starter. Got to get some cover in there. |  |

Greaves and Kipre are CBs, they can't play as traditional left backs and we shouldn't be going into this season looking to make do. We need proper cover at LB. Young can cover there but with Clarke injured for a long spell, he's also needed as RB cover and we can't go into a season with only three specialist full backs. | |
