While interesting, I wouldn't read an awful lot into it if he plays in terms of him potentially staying. The cup tied reference for the league cup. is clutching for a PL squad.
Hopefully Cajuste might be able to come off the bench on Sunday, however suspect he is a week or so short yet. |

Avoiding injury wouldn't be though. Surely if a circa £40m deal's about to go through, you wouldn't risk that for a poxy Carabao cup game v an under-strength-recently-promoted-to-the-football-league-for-the-first-time team?!
I'd say if he plays that would be a strong indication he's staying. Just don't see why you'd risk him otherwise. |  |

I don't think we have had a deal we are willing to accept yet. Another club seeing him playing for us might whirl them into action to up the anti a little to get closer or reach 40M.
Pretty sure Szmodics scored in this comp last year, Clarke scored for Sunderland, O'Shea played for Burnley,. Deals happen later in August all the time, injuries can happen in training as well.
It's probably us digging our heals in that he's currently our player as much as anything else. [Post edited 12 Aug 18:09]

If Hutch and Broady play, then hope it means they are staying.
I have been critical of Hutch these last couple of weeks, but sounds as if none of it has come from him or was just rubbish. Hope they stay as I think they could both be massive for us this season. |  |

I think if a deal was imminent he wouldn’t play. That’s not to say he won’t leave in the next 3 weeks but would probably indicate it’s not a ‘live deal’.
The way I see it is he’s still our player, it’s business as usual. We can’t sit on our hands for 3 weeks on the chance he might leave and then he’s missed the first 5 games and needs more time to get up to speed. He might get injured, that’s always going to be a risk, but I don’t think we can legislate for that. He’s our player, we should utilise him and play him until such time as he’s not. |  | | |

Correct, it means we have likely not accepted any bids as of yet but there is still a strong chance he leaves before September 1st IMO. | |
