£10 million for Nathan Broadhead 13:05 - Aug 14 with 4503 views | Libero | We've absolutely pulled Wrexham's pants down. Not only is he available for free next season but despite being an incredibly gifted footballer and goalscorer, he has to be managed *very* carefully. In our promotion season he never played two games in a week, he very rarely completes 90 minutes. We're a long way from the 'soft touch' that Ashton describes as us being when he stole Adam Webster from us for a pittance on behalf of Bristol City.

£10 million for Nathan Broadhead on 13:12 - Aug 14 by Libero | Judging by his injury record, yes. |
He played in 19 games in the second half of the season when we signed him in January and 38 games in the championship season. 19 games last season. Doesn't seem like he was injured that often

£10 million for Nathan Broadhead on 13:14 - Aug 14 by Libero | Have we? Care to give us an example? We've paid pretty fair market value on all our purchases - even Muric who ultimately was a failure, was a reasonable price at the time. |
We paid over £15m for Jack Clarke, I don't need to go on. We paid £20m for Jaden Philogene, 6 months after Villa had bought him back for less than £15m, in that 6 months for Villa, he featured 14 times - no goals or assists. Would be shocked if he has played over 10 competitive games for us so far. We paid just shy of £20m for Jacob Greaves - not a bad player, but no real difference currently from Cam Burgess, who we paid £750k from Accrington. We paid £9m for Ogebene - not a bad player, but no real difference currently from Wes Burns, who we paid £150k from Fleetwood. If we are talking money alone, we've blown our fair share.

I shouldn't need to hold your hand on this, all the infomation is in the thread from myself and even supplemented by another poster - Broadhead played a very small amount of minutes relative to the number of games played in our promotion season and was regularly protected by staff as he physically could not play two games in a week without exacerbating an existing issue. £10 million for Nathan Broadhead on 14:49 - Aug 14 with 488 views | Churchman | Why do people use that silly phrase? Anyway, I think they got an excellent deal. £10m for a player of that quality is chump change to them and other wealthy clubs. He could easily make the difference and get them promoted and how much is that worth? It’s a better gamble than employing a load of loanees who might/might not give their all and succeed for their temporary club which appears to be cashing assets now in accordance with silent Brett Johnson’s sales document. He played plenty of games for us and let’s face it, given our less than great fitness management why should he not for Wrexham? Prices have gone through the roof. Wrexham have got a great deal. Broadhead is at a club where he will be appreciated and he won’t be seeing his colleagues abused by so called supporters in the way they are here. For us - we’ve got a bit of money for him but even if we had any ££ to spend replacing him it’d would cost considerable more than £10m. I truly hope I’m wrong about where ITFC is. Fortunately I usually am.

Christ, reading that 2nd paragraph I thought that was the village troll darkhorse posting that. NB has been my favourite player since signing and I’m gutted he’s leaving but even I would bite your hand off for 10m. [Post edited 14 Aug 14:53]

Not really. It’s a decent bit of business, no more than that. I like NB. He’s a cracking player to get a team out of this division. Premier League quality? Not so sure as I’ve stated previously having seen him close up. As for my club, it’s not a whinge, just how I see where we are that the moment - possibly. I did caveat it at the end. Lastly please excuse my somewhat brusque response. I have the somewhat difficult experience of finding my brother in law deceased in his house late last night and am a tad tired. Time to sign off for a while.

£10 million for Nathan Broadhead on 13:09 - Aug 14 by MrBeckinsale | Does he actually need managing *very* carefully, or is that the way we've just done it? As for rarely completing 90 minutes, that's more down to McKenna's preferred way of utilising substitutes. When Didzy left us, it was said he wasn't able to play too many consecutive games, but then has played majority of the games he was available for ever since. |
When Didsy left us, he wasn't able to play many games full stop!

Yes, getting a good return for Broadhead is fine and good for both sides but a player who has massively contributed for us as well. I always said we would get around 7-8M. Seems even more than that When you see what we have paid for Clarke (most would probably want Broady over him in current state), Muric etc and some others are still very much in wait and see mode for true value as well. Celebrating this as some massive win is weird behavior after last summer and what the player has meant for us.

The point about Brett Johnson's document is a fair one. Taking his words at face value, rather than believing an after-the-fact reinterpretation of them, reality does seem pretty close to according with what Johnson said. I'm just hoping we're not also going to sell Davis to take it over the £100m mark. I think we're all resigned to losing Cough Drops now. Personally, I think we've made the right decision with Broadhead at £10m. It's a lot of money for someone we didn't pay a lot for, and who won't be first choice. Also, Azon on loan is limited in risk, and he has actively decided to come here when Fabregas wanted to keep him, so I'm not worried about him not wanting to be here. Akpom also had other suitors, and has come here. So I'm very happy to take as the starting point that they want to be here and will try their best.

Clarke has been utter **** for us, but the fee we paid was about right for what he had been doing at Sunderland? Can't really blame the club for paying the going rate for one of the top championship players, irrespective of how it actually turned out.
