We are 11/10 with most bookies 13:41 - Aug 18 with 1489 viewsonceablue

To get promoted.

They are very short odds based on the first 2 games and player turnover

Suggest you lay it off on a betting exchange if you think it's too short

Seems about right to me, get another CDM in and a striker to rival Hirst and we are good.

(Plus Cajuste and Akpom up to speed).

RIP Sir Bobby

Two of our hardest games out of the way already and we haven't lost yet.

They're probably basing it on relative squad strength, resources, stability, and past performances of similar parachute payments teams rather than on the knee jerk reaction of fans to drawing two tough opening fixtures. Looks about right to me.

Although we haven’t won either

My guess is we may draw 10-15 games this season

That's about right for automatic promotion, so long as we don't lose more than about half a dozen.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

What? Two of the hardest games we’ll face with a squad in transition. We’ll probably spend £50m in the next 10 days or so.

Probably because they recognise we've still got at least 2x more eight-figure deals to do and no more of our best players are likely to leave.

We've just matched the other shortest odds Birmingham (3rd) and Southampton (2nd) despite the turnover and being far less settled, and should only improve.

Think we have done perfectly fine over those first two games for a parachute club in August – doubt the bookies will have seen much to deter them just yet.

Totally agree although I guess we should be winning 1 of the next 2 if not both take 4 points now

Preston won’t be easy

The player turnover was expected, and we blow all but 3-4 other teams out of the water budget wise, so our playing squad is still superior to most.

Draws against two other promotion favs is not something that will concern the bookies.

Parachute clubs should be confident of going to Preston and getting a win.

I know they beat Leicester, but that doesnt make them a great team.

Draw 15, win 31 - I make that 108 points. Should be enough...

That's a pretty contradictory statement bearing in mind Leicester are a parachute team

Might well be right, Leeds drew 13 and Burnley 16 last season and they finished 1st and 2nd respectively.

“Squad still superior to most”. Yeah look at us with our solitary injury-prone striker.

Its really not.

Anomalies happen, but parachute teams should go to teams like Preston expecting to win.

We will be favs.

Have a look where at our squad value / transfer spend compared to the rest of the league.

You can pretend we are a plucky small club, but we are not. We are one of the parachute teams that we used to hate.

We loaned a striker last week who two years ago was top scorer in the Champ. Add to that our two £15m wingers.

It's because we are a very well run club with a squad and manager most clubs would love to have.

And still resources to improve it further.

I get what Illy is saying (and he is right on the Hirst situation), but people do keep forgetting the strength and quality of the squad we do have. And when compared to 23/24 it is signficantly better player by player.

Akpom could definitely be that other striker/No.9 if we need him too. Both him and Sammy have scored 25+ in a season.

The two or three big additions to come will give McKenna no excuses for not achieving promotion.

And I do like that line "we are one of the parachute teams that we used to hate". So very true!
