And that’s the thing for me, is he going to move across the world to sit on the bench? You’d want/need some assurances that there’s game time here.

Sebastian Caceres… on 06:18 - Aug 22 with 4091 views | Westover | Both the management and the coaching staff prefer that Sebastián stays, as he is a key player and an undisputed starter; regarding the player's decision, he is not fully convinced to leave, since we are less than a year away from the World Cup and if he fails to be a starter at the team he joins, he could lose his spot in the Uruguayan National Team, where he is currently the starting defender. Another detail is his personal life, it is currently known that he is in a relationship with a very famous Mexican 'streamer', which makes him want to stay in Mexico to remain close to that person. But in any case, we will have to wait because if an irresistible offer comes along, it would be difficult for both the player and the club to decline it. That is not looking good.

Seems to play the left CB role quite a lot so you would think he would be replacing Greaves in the starting 11.

Won't he just be told to fight for his place like every other player? That's the idea of "competition for places" isn't it?
Sebastian Caceres… on 06:50 - Aug 22 with 3693 views | dirtyboy | Just watched a highlight reel someone has done ….of his errors lol! I find this hard to understand to be honest, looks tidy on the ball to be fair, but is he a Woolfenden replacement? He’s not going to displace Greaces and Kipre surely? Certainly not O’Shea! I wonder though…..could he be moved to CM? Saw elements of Morsy in there more than anyone else across the back.

That would be how i see it and would word it. I could be crazy to suggest this, but Wolf is a local lad, knows exactly how we play, is fcking good, and already here. Why not just keep him (to add some stability too)

This really is…. on 07:11 - Aug 22 with 3360 views | Bloots | ….an utter shambles of a transfer window isn’t it? Even if we get to a decent position by the end of it (which I don’t think we will) then questions really need to be asked about the whole way we have gone about it. I appreciate things don’t always go to plan and that player decisions to stay, go, join or not join are going to change but we seem to have been constantly “chasing our tails” for months now. There’s just been no method to it at all.

We regained access to Brighton’s database since relegation. It looks like Ashton has gone crazy playing football manager with it, trying to sign the unobtainable whilst solid Championship players who could improve the squad and help get us promoted signed elsewhere. I’m really not a fan of the “Premiership ready” player strategy. Can we please just aim for Championship promotion ready players and worry about the Premier League when we actually earn the right to play there? [Post edited 22 Aug 7:21]

Ironically we purchased championship promotion ready players when we got to the PL. And now we need championship promotion ready players we are aiming for PL ready players. I don’t know anymore. But if we waste the leg up we have this season, that’s going to be bloody annoying!

To be honest, I don’t mind our approach in terms of the ambition we’re showing - but always felt like those types of deals wouldn’t come to fruition until Prem sides had sorted their sides out, which doesn’t normally happen to the last week. I think we wasn’t prepared however for the likes of Morsy, Broadhead and seemingly Woolfie wanting to leave the club, and had probably expected Burgess and Tuanzebe to renew, so maybe that took us by surprise? Texters gets pelters on here for it, but he’s absolutely right in that we have had months - about 6 months or so - to get ourselves another striker in the building. We knew back in Feb we was relegated, Delap had even spoke to clubs before the season had finished and we still started the season with Al-Hamadi as 2nd choice. No slant from me on Al-Hamadi, not his fault the club has moved at a rate of knots beyond his ability. That’s the shambles part of it for me. Still, at least we had the boxing and Ed at PR over the summer.

Absolutely agree. Slightly concerned that Mckenna seems to have gone from stating how short the squad is in areas,to almost dampening people's expectations yesterday in terms of how many additions we can expect.

But we lost 4 central midfielders, two defenders (3 if you count Townsend), a striker and a winger/10. They need replaced.

….we should, as a “parachute” club, be operating from a position of power in this league. Instead we appear to be totally surprised by everything that is happening. We should know which players are realistic options to buy, but more importantly we should know which of our own players are going to leave. Just over a week left and we are still looking at plugging unexpected gaps in the squad without addressing the gaping holes that have been obvious for months. I might send them a letter of serious concern.

That’s before you get to the right back and goalkeeper who just aren’t good enough as well.

I just don’t know what we do if we don’t bring in a striker, because Hirst will miss games through injuries if we flog him for 90mins at the intensity we ask of him.
