Or the players agent is “doing a hackney” and trying to flush out potential other PL suitors…?

Dunno - if you can see a head, then arrival seems pretty imminent, at least based on the birth of my 4 kids.

Given West Ham have now seemingly made a move for Hackney (who's looked brilliant already this season) fair play to his agent. Hackney didn't flat out refuse, he came, he saw, he took a look around and then declined probably on the basis that he believed in himself to get a PL move by getting his head down and playing. Can't deny Egeli trying similar. Seen a fair bit of Egeli now, very versatile, doesn't seem very quick, but definitely has something about him.

Talking of agents, Philogene's agent has been very quiet this window. After seeing some of his antics in the past, I'm surprised if he hasn't tried to get his client back in the premier league. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Reckon he’d struggle at that. There’s a few players that need to rebuild their reputations now. Delap and Omari looked every bit PL players (and Cajuste imo). You’d have hoped the rest would hit the ground running this season to prove themselves, unfortunately heads still look to be down.

It’s still something of a punt for a relegated team that needs to bounce back. EUR 20m for a player with under 50apps in a weak league. Top of Championship would be a big step up, it’s a big fee would hope a lot of it is add ons. Feel like he’s the kind of player that Brighton would pick up and loan out. I’m undecided on this one - feels high risk (albeit potentially high reward).

And this is the approach we take isn't it? We need one or two players with a very high 'potential' ceiling, like Omari. He fits that bill perfectly. Omari came to us having played no football - managed to find his feet in the Championship and contribute. He was far from perfect when he joined though we could all see what he might be capable of. Egeli is the same.

This is 100% in line with our model. Take a punt on some players with potential, who may well contribute to our success in the short-term, and turn a good profit longer term, after a couple of seasons coached by McKenna.

Of course he did, hence the £37.5m move to Forest. One of England's top players at the Euro U21 as well.

But Omari was much more a known quantity having been here on loan, he proved himself with goals, assists and a promotion in a very tough league. In that context a 20m outlay whilst in the PL was incredibly low risk. 20m for a guy with under 50 games (for the worst side) in the 14th ranked league in Europe certainly isn’t our model to date. Definitely agree we need to cast our net further, it just feels expensive versus other clubs fees (eg 15m for Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon, a big team, and whilst Southampton were in the PL). Might be just how ludicrous fees are now but feels excessive and therefore incredibly high risk. [Post edited 26 Aug 16:14]

- very far - yes or about to - yes - no, he didn't need to as doctors exist outside of the UK nb. how long do you know it has taken, and how long from your expert experience do transfers normally take, and have you raised these concerns with the club?
