If it's a bridge too far to get Hackney in (fair enough, we tried), then we need a really good development option with next season in mind. I still think Ruiz looks a cracking prospect, and think a CM set of Matusiwa, Cajuste, Ruiz, Taylor, +1 would be acceptable. I'd like that +1 to be a very physical player with decent development potential, but I guess you can't have everything. |  |

James McConnell from Liverpool. One we have defo shown solid interest in. As reported earlier in the window. He’s quite similar to Hackney in style so seems one we could fall back on.. Deep player, takes risks in possession, brave.

There is zero evidence that Philogene and Clarke didn't want to come, only irrational deductions by some folks on here.
Philogene is beginning to look very good, after a difficult start interrupted by a nasty injury.

Our opportunity to get Hackney was last summer (we were linked) and not this summer. Same with Julian James, also linked 12 months ago. Would have been happy with both of them at the time as it was obvious central midfield needed succession planning. |  |
