Ben Johnson on his way out? 10:51 - Aug 28 with 2677 viewshenryblue

Surely with Furlong coming in, and Ashley Young as a strong back up, this would open the door for a BJ exit?

nope the signing is to cover left back as he can operate across the back 4. i guess maybe possibly even CB cover so we wont replace Woolfie...

Don't be so dismissive. You have no idea if the plan is for a him to cover LB, Johnson to cover LB, Young to cover LB etc etc

Ben Johnson could well be on the way out, Harry Clarke could be on the way out. They could get a LB in etc

Id be astonished if he has left West Brom where he is a regular and their captain to cover us in a position he rarely plays in.....

this board is about opinions right? So i am allowed mine! The op posted a question and I gave my personal view, absolutely no idea if i am right or wrong but isnt that the fun of it. No need to be quite so aggressive!

Good point.... but I still can't quite understand why we would bring in a starting right back when we are clearly short at LB? Who knows! I guess we will find out in the next few days :-)

Your nope answer was little bit aggressive in itself. Maybe if you’d started with ‘in my opinion’ it would have come across a little better.

Of course you're allowed yours, but don't dismiss another opinion entirely because it does not align with yours.

You told the poster that they were wrong, dismissing their opinion entirely with absolutely no foundation saying 'nope the signing is to cover left back'.

I think its as simple as he's coming to challenge Johnson and Young for that right back spot. Neither have the shirt nailed down and no doubt Furlong will back himself to make it his own. And in those 3 we'll think there's sufficient versatility to cover on the left should Davis get injured or suspended. Young has played there plenty of times.

I've seen a few people link Johnson with Fulham. They've got 2 right backs, 1 is a Dutch international and the other a Belgium international. I can't understand what on Earth they would see in Ben Johnson that would make him attractive to them tbh.

Mate of mine is a Fulham fan. He said to me several weeks ago that he couldn’t see why they would be involved in him. Doesn’t mean it won’t happen of course, but I’m struggling to see who would be prepared to pick up his wages

Hopefully not - really rate BJ and he'll be great in this league

We’ve got three fullbacks but need four. Furlong would take us to four.

I doubt there’s anything more to it than that, although we can’t rule anything out. We won’t be looking to move Johnson on off the back of Furlong’s signing unless we’ve got another fullback lined up I’d have thought.

If HC wasn’t injured he should be on his way out. We need much better

As above I can see that, really was not meant that way. I (like us all) really have no idea what the outcome will be! Same as all the talk about Mckateer and dismissing him, no one actually knows how it will pan out, or why we paid what we did. (i actually have a feeling he will turn out to be a gem of a signing, unlike some of the players people got really excited over).

I reckon so he never wanted to come here i reckon, Fulham i bet.

£6m will be fine for a player that doesnt seem to want to be here.

Based on what? Just asking.

He will be straight in at RB.
He has played for WBA already this season and I believe is even their Captain. He ain't leaving that for a place on our bench.

body language. The noise around possible transfers to other clubs in the past. London based guy most of his life coming out this way probably would rather be back that way.

and he probably expected to play a lot more than he has.

Not picking a fight, genuinely interested

What is it about his body language in particular that makes you think he doesn’t want to be here?

London-based guy all his life, maybe. He’s hardly in Newcastle or Plymouth though, is he?

As to expecting to play more he seems to have done ok, give or take the odd tweak or pull. Don’t have his figures but seems to be in and around the squad as with a lot of players.
