The subs bench is the more intriguing thing for me. I can see McKenna bringing in Cajuste for Taylor, but that being it for the first XI.
I think Azon will make the bench as we have no out and out striker. Nunez could make it as well, to offer more balance. Still don't know where Humphreys was last week. Will we go with two full backs and no centre backs? Pretty sure we have before but it's risky if we lose one of O'Shea or Greaves to injury. Maybe Furlong will be given the break as well.

For me, that will be a sign we're not signing Caceres. If we have any plans to do so, it'd make more sense to stick with O'Shea and Greaves tomorrow, rather than jump from one pairing, to another, to another. | |

I think Furlong starts, Azon on bench.
Do we think the issue with Azon and his medical (yes rumoured only but fairly widely rumoured) was that he isn't currently injured, but the previous injury he had was sufficiently nasty that we'd like to see how he has recovered from it and his durability over a few games before committing to a purchase? I.e. we didn't want to take the risk to be obligated to buy and he breaks down within 10 games and never gets back to full fitness? Bit of try before you buy?

Wouldn't be surprised with Akpom in for Szmodics, but can't see KMc starting both Cajuste and Akpom at this stage, feels an unnecessary role of the dice.
Also, point of note, I enjoy calling Egeli "The New Haaland Tractor" even if I'm the only one that finds it funny (I live opposite Ernest Doe's HQ and can see a fleet of Blue New Holland Tractors out my window). [Post edited 29 Aug 11:55]

He played at LCB in League One under Lambert, to accommodate McGuinness. Safe to say he didn't look at his most comfortable there, but has developed considerably since then. | |
