It depends how you view it (which is the point of a piece of art and not the front page of a newspaper). Turning it around, could anyone think of better, more impactful symbolism to portray the legal crackdown on peaceful protest? I can’t think of a caricature of a politician that everyone would instantly associate with law-makers. You could have had policeman, but again it’s the law that’s the issue.
Hopefully people understand it’s not about judges per se, but rather the process that’s rotten. And there’s nothing that incites anything against a named individual, unlike the newspaper front page. |  |

Yup I was listening to an R4 discussion about attacks on the judiciary the other day and the Banksy thing was cited as an example of how they can come from the left as well as the right.
The art incorrectly suggests it is judges responsible for the over-repression of protestors (if of course you believe this is the case, as Mr Banksy seems to). Politicians decide the law, judges only see that it is followed. Although you can argue it's just symbolic, and there's not really an easy way to visually depict the legislature as an individual.
